Disaster & Wilderness Medicine
Academic Practice Track
Academic Practice Track
Introduction: Wilderness, disaster, and exploration medicine (“austere” medicine) focus on providing medical care in remote and resource limited settings. The austere medicine track provides a foundation in the principles of austere medicine and the opportunity for residents to focus on a particular area of interest. Subject matter is derived from curricula in wilderness medicine, dive medicine, aerospace medicine, disaster medicine and emergency management.
Objective: Upon completion of the track, participants will be able to practice independently in resource limited settings, develop and execute research projects in the field, and develop teaching tools related to the core content of austere medicine.
