Developer Student Clubs (DSC) are community groups for students from any academic background in their undergraduate or graduate term. DSC NYP is an Organization in NYP that is affliated with Google Developer Clubs.
Mission : DSC NYP aims to promote IT, spread awareness about the importance of digital knowledge, as well as to nurture young developers.
Vision : A digital literate society, where people can create IT solutions to solve the community issues and encourage others to do the same.
Values : Resilience, Honesty, Respect and Teamwork
To level up your development skills, solve problems through technology and inspire people to create solutions for the community that is supported by Google Developers.
DSC activities are targeted at University students but not limited to those who want to learn more on IT development skills & interested to solve real-life problems using technology.
Google recognises core team member of a DSC lead, you are welcome to put this role in your resume and even talk about it during interview
The core team member will also be receiving a certificate by Google!
Regardless of whether you get acknowledged by Google, the fact that you helped in numerous workshops and projects would definitely help your resume and broaden your knowledge of different technologies.
Being in a club full of passionate developers and IT enthusiasts would be very useful for you to build your connections
You never know who might be your colleague in the future!

Here's a look at some of our recent activities!
15 Nov 2019
The Google Cloud Study Jam was held on the 15 Nov 2019 in conjunction with SIT Day.Over 70 students participated in the event, which consisted of a talk by Mr Shafraz Rahim, a Google Community Cloud manager, which was followed by a workshop on Google Cloud Platform and its capabilities.Despite experiencing technical error in the initial stage, our student helpers adapted and managed to help solve many of the participants problems.Overall,we received overwhelming feedback from our participants who many indicated that they would be interested in future events.Even though this is our first event, this has definitely been a great learning opportunity of us , and we will strive to bring better events in the future!
18 Dec 2019
During the recent December semester break, our club also conducted a workshop on Kotlin. Despite being the semester break,we received healthy responses and over 30 participants turned up .Other than introducing the basics of Kotlin to our participants, the participants also engaged in building an Android App of 'Scissors Paper Stone' using Android Studio. To practice what was taught, the participants were given questions on a whole range of difficulty, including challenging questions such as detecting a Palindrome.Right after that,we proceeded towards creating the application, and most of our participants managed to create the application within the given time.Overall, many of our participants were satisfied with the workshop, even though some indicated that it could be shorter. We hope that the participants have gain interest towards building Android applications through this workshop and become budding developers themselves!
Our club is planning to organize major projects or host tech talks, workshops, hackathons. For the workshops/talks, it can also be non-tech related such as leadership talks.
However, we still plan on teaching google related technologies (APIs, Frameworks, Programming language etc)
To give some examples :
Angular framework to develop web, desktop and mobile app
Kotlin, Google's most preferred language to develop android app in 2019
Tensorflow - Google's machine learning framework
For certain workshops, we may invite Googlers to be our guest speakers!
We understand that students can be concerned with their GPA, hence we will avoid having meetings and hosting workshops during exam periods
We expect our members to be active in group meetings and passionate about IT!
