Governor Hochul,

I am writing to express my concern about the lack of specific mold limits in New York State’s Adult use cannabis regulations. While NY’s medical limit is 10,000 CFU/g, there is no limit for Adult use. Because of this, there are products on the shelves now exceeding 200x the medical mold limit.

Most established cannabis markets, such as those in Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Washington, have clear mold limits that all producers must meet. These regulations protect consumers’ health and help maintain the integrity of licensed businesses. Conversely, New York’s current Adult Use guidelines do not have any mold limits, leaving consumers uncertain about what is considered “safe” and potentially exposing them to health issues.

I ask that you set a Total Yeast and Mold pass/fail limit from 10,000 - 100,000 CFU/g as other states have done with their cannabis programs.
