Our Social Innovation Ventures

The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is a leader in Indigenous social entrepreneurship. Come visit our Social, Cultural, and Economic Innovations Centre (SCIEC) in downtown Gatineau, Québec, to see for yourself!

NWAC’s businesses drive social change by generating revenue that is channeled back into our grassroots programs and services that support the social, economic, cultural, and political well-being of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse people within their respective communities and Canadian societies.

Our Café

Café Bouleau delivers a culturally rich food experience through its Indigenous-inspired menu that celebrates ingredients and techniques common to Indigenous culinary traditions. Our buffalo meat sandwich, smoked salmon Bannock, charred corn soup, wild rice and seasonal berry salad, and Bannock Bite donut dessert are popular café selections that harmonize traditional flavours and contemporary flair.

Whether dining in, eating on the patio, grabbing a bite to go for breakfast or lunch, or hosting a catered event – large or small – Café Bouleau is a destination café for patrons interested in unique culinary experiences.

As Café Bouleau continues to innovate, it will offer its own wholesale distribution line of coffee and source local ingredients from NWAC’s own rooftop greenhouse – from rooftop to table!

Visit our café today for a culinary experience you won’t forget!

Our Catering

NWAC offers off-site catering services through Café Bouleau, our in-house Chef, and events staff. Our catering services add a culturally unique culinary experience to local meetings and events.

As a social entrepreneurship initiative, catering revenues support NWAC’s programs and services – that’s dining that makes a difference!

Our Boutique

Artisanelle is a social enterprise boutique that sells high-quality, Indigenous products and artisan creations by Indigenous Peoples of the Americas and beyond. The boutique empowers artisans by contributing to economic independence and sustainability through Fair Trade, while bridging the gap between artisans and global markets.

Artisanelle honours Indigenous Traditions and cultures while supporting social change. Purchasing a hand-crafted and unique creation from Artisanelle helps Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse artisans grow and sustain their own businesses.

Take a virtual wander through our online boutique. Guaranteed you will find a thing or two you simply cannot live without!

Our Art Sales and Gallery

NWAC has a distinguished collection of Indigenous art from Canada, the United States, and the Americas that promotes culture through a celebration of the arts. In fact, it is one of the most comprehensive Indigenous art galleries in the country.

Our growing collection – representative of the rich diversity of Indigenous artistic production – is on display at the SCEIC and through NWAC’s online art gallery. Each original piece or print is available for purchase, with funds from the sales supporting artists and communities through NWAC’s programs and services.

Whether you are a collector, a lover of Indigenous art, or simply want to help support an artist, our collection offers a variety of art for all tastes and pocketbooks!

Our Unique Meeting and Event Spaces

NWAC’s Social, Cultural, and Economic Innovation Centre offers a variety of culturally immersive meeting rooms and event spaces for rent. Large or small, formal or informal, NWAC has an incredible selection of meeting and event spaces that will suit any occasion.

Our 10 meeting rooms and spaces – soon to be 11 with the addition of a rooftop terrace – are beautifully designed to represent the diverse cultures of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, including special rooms dedicated to ceremony, healing, and art.

We specialize in renting culturally appropriate spaces to commercial enterprises, not-for profits, and small businesses. Rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Owl Videoconferencing technology, Smart Hub interactive screens, wireless internet, and microphone systems to support the needs of our clientele. In-house catering, provided by NWAC’s Chefs and kitchen staff, is also available.

As a cultural support for meetings and events, Elders and Knowledge Keepers are also available for the purpose of opening/closing meetings, assisting a facilitator during a workshop, or attending a speaking engagement.

Next time you are organizing a meeting, think about creating a unique experience for attendees by booking one of our one-of-a-kind spaces. You will all want to come back again!
