“The Word” is so central to the believer’s life. It is important therefore how I intake and conform my response to God’s Word.

The Psalm describes the one who delights in God’s law and meditates on his law day and night as blessed. “Meditate” refers to deep and deliberate contemplation of God’s Word to understand and apply it. I realise that much of my thoughts are wasted - spent zoning out or daydreaming. To spend this time on meditating on God’s law instead would be wise, as it helps me to bear a fruitful life in God. Meditating keeps me alert throughout the day to apply God’s Word. It also allows me to slow down over every single word and phrase - to examine and fully appreciate what God says. Otherwise, I might overlook and take certain details for granted. I have re-examined my approach to memorising and meditating God’s Word, which is to meditate on verses in place of wasted thoughts throughout the day.
