Having attended Quiet Time Sharing and NavEx for quite a while already, I thought that it would be good for me to learn how to deepen my prayer life beyond just praying for my Quiet Time and Bible Study applications during fellowship, or merely praying for myself and my own needs.
From the Prayer workshop, I learnt the five elements of an effective prayer. The Prayer Hand illustration helped me to identify the areas which I was lacking in my prayer life, most notably intercession – that is praying for others and even for bigger things. I learnt that prayer is neither merely something personal, nor does its power end at the periphery of the encounters in our lives such as studies, work and relationships. God helped me see that prayer is a powerful request that has the ability to change the lives of others, which encompasses even greater things that are beyond our personal experiences or our control. With this reminder of the power of prayer, I pray to make good use of this deep and personal medium of communication with God to pray more for others and for their specific prayer requests.
