I was already a Christian but I hadn’t been spending Quiet Time (QT) regularly with God and I had yet to understand what it meant to truly put him first as my Lord. Shortly after that I was re-introduced to QT and encouraged to spend time with God daily which helped me to get to know Him more and draw close to Him each day. When I first started having QT daily, it felt like a whole new world was opened up to me and I learned so much more about God. QT sharing also helped me in accountability as there were times where I was tired or discouraged and didn’t feel like reading the Bible but being able to read God’s Word and learning from others in fellowship helped me to gain new insights and draw back to God’s presence. It has been a blessing to me and I give thanks to God for the opportunity to fellowship and grow in Him.
Being in the fellowship taught me to put Christ first. Personally, I struggle with tiring out easily physically and sometimes mentally from different things that happen in my life. As a result, there were times where I struggled to put Christ first when faced with different challenges and things to do. When I had an influx of projects and coming tests and facing struggles, I found myself becoming focused on these things and less on God, even thinking of forgoing my time with Him. However, my mentor encouraged me to continue joining QT sharing and Bible study on Fridays. Through her encouragement I decided to do so which helped me to refocus back on God and grow in my faithfulness. Spending time with Him reminds me that He is infinitely greater than all my problems and that spending time with Him is more precious than anything.
During the Bible study session on John 4 where Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman, I was reminded of how Jesus is my living water that truly quenches me and gives me true satisfaction. As Jesus said in John 4:13-14,
“𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵. 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.”
I was encouraged to find my rest and peace in Christ instead of fretting over the worries of life or trying to draw satisfaction through my own means such as seeking fun or excelling in my academics. I was also inspired to place all my cares on Christ and continue to be faithful in my relationship with Him. Through this God also gave me peace to replace the anxiety I had thinking about all sorts of different things. Even as I continue to face many projects and tests coming up in the next few weeks, I thank God that He will continue to guide me and be with me throughout everything. Being in Navigators has truly been a blessing in my life and taught me to be faithful and put Christ first.
