From the Assurance of Salvation (AOS) Workshop, what struck me was when the workshop leader said, “Beyond knowing, do we really feel the love of God?” In the workshop, I was reminded that to feel God’s love is to understand the value of salvation. Just as how it is stated in Romans 5:8, “𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴: 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴.”
Truly, God’s love towards us is not a momentary feeling that could be easily lost but rather an everlasting devotion to the extent of His willingness to sacrifice His Son. The value of salvation is so expensive that we could do nothing but only to receive it humbly as a gift, and this gift is willingly offered by Him just so that we could have a relationship with Him. How then can anyone say that they don’t feel God’s love knowing the value of salvation? Or how can anyone be uncertain about God’s love for them knowing that He has given His Son for us? Perhaps I would never be able to understand the true extent of God’s love until I have a child of my own, but even the thought of losing someone close is already saddening.
