We are hiring!

Part and full-time research assistant positions are available for an NUS lab that investigates the use of technology for education, mental and physical health (see overview at www.josephjaywilliams.com/research-overview, www.nus-hci.org or TEDx talk at bit.ly/tedxwilliams). We use psychology, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence/statistical machine learning to build intelligent systems.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent learner who is willing to do a wide range of tasks thoroughly, independently figure out how to solve problems, and can manage administrative tasks. Background in these topics is not required but you will learn a great deal in a dynamic research environment.

Examples of activities you’ll do:

  • Act as project manager helping graduate students and faculty make plans and execute on them.
  • Assist in scheduling meetings, sending emails, chasing HR resources.
  • Identify and contact relevant stakeholders for our research activities
  • Update websites explaining our research (e.g. www.josephjaywilliams.com) using basic software (programming not required, but a plus)
  • Come up with ways to help us save time and contribute to the research environment by managing projects, documenting and creating wikis on the research process.

The position can be part or full time, and remote work is not an issue.

Interested but unsure? First, please submit at this Google Form a paragraph about who are you and why you’re interested. You can include your Resume/CV or anything else you like. After a pre-screening, you may be asked to do three sample tasks followed by an interview.

If you think you’re overqualified for assistant work - you’re a great fit - this will be much more rewarding than most jobs of that kind as you’re working with a top research lab.
