This course introduces students to the critical examination of women's health issues globally, exploring the intersection of socio-cultural, economic, and political factors shaping women's well-being. Through relevant research, case studies, and discussions with experts, students will identify the challenges and opportunities in global women's health. They will develop analytical skills to assess the impact of diverse factors on women's health, fostering a perspective on health disparities and promoting cultural competency. Content (Structure/Organization)
Content is women's health topics like FGM, FemTech, Women's mental health, Violence against women.
Manageability of Workload
Workload is manageable. There's an open-ended midterm exam and a group project where you have to work in [groups of three or four to] design a campaign linked to a women's health topic.
Ease/Difficulty of Attaining Grades
Grading depends on how well you understand the content and concepts covered in class, in order to weave it into your midterm exam and project.
Learning Value/Recommendation
I found this course extremely insightful as it covered Women's Health issues that society considers taboo and rarely discusses. The course provided me with case studies from all over the world to mull over and converse about with my classmates.
