Many policy challenges facing governments require insights from different disciplines. Consequently, effective policy makers need insights and skills drawn from a range of these disciplines to identify and evaluate policy options and the ability to bring those insights and skills together when working in teams. To that end, this course introduces students to a selection of key concepts relevant to modern policy-making from philosophy, economics, sociology, political science and legal regulation. And it will do that in a problem-based, student-directed learning environment built around a central case study that will vary from year to year.
