- Equivalent Expressions --> Expressions that are equal to each other
- Properties --> Statements that are true for all numbers
The distributive property is essentially about sharing. The number on the outside of the parenthesis is multiplied by both numbers on the inside of the parenthesis
The commutative property states that no matter how you add or multiply numbers, you will always get the same answer
Ex: 3 + 5 = 5 + 3 OR 4 x 5 = 5 x 4
The associate property states that how you add or multiply grouped numbers (numbers in parenthesis), the answer will be the same
Ex: (4 + 5) + 6 = 4 + (5 + 6) *Note that the operations are all the same
The identity property says that any number plus zero or any number multiplied by one will always stay the same
