6.7.1 Graph Relations

Definitions

• • Coordinate Plane --> Formed when two number lines intersect at their zero points

  • Origin --> Where the intersecting  lines cross at (0, 0)

  • x-axis --> The horizontal number line

  • y-axis --> The vertical number line

  • Ordered Pair --> Used to name points on the coordinate plane

  • x-coordinate --> The first number in the ordered pair

  • y-coordinate --> The second number in the ordered pair

  • Relation --> A set of ordered pairs 

    • Example: {(1, 3), (2, 4), and (3, 5)}

  • Graph --> A point on a coordinate plane means to place a dot a the point named by an ordered pair
