In the first example, the rounding is simple. 47% is close to 50% and 692 is close to 700. So for our estimate, we are looking for 50% of 700, which is half of 700.
In the second example, we are looking for 60% of 27. Since 60% is an easy number to work with, we will only change the 27 to 25. Now, if we look back to our fraction/decimal/percent cheat sheet, we can see that 60% comes from the fraction 3/5. We can set up an equivalent ratio or use common knowledge to figure out the problem from here. Examples of each of those methods are listed in the next example.
