Multiplying Decimals by Whole Numbers:
Estimate the answer to the problem first to get an idea for a reasonable answer.
Multiply the problem normally.
However many decimal places there are will show you how far to move the decimal in your final answer.
<----- You will notice that an extra 0 is added to the left of the 3 in the hundredths place. This is because when you multiply the problem out, the decimal is supposed to move three places, but only two numbers will appear in the answer (the 3 and the 6). To make up for this, we include that extra 0 to the left of the 3 so that the decimal is allowed to move three places to the left.
Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation. (6.NS.B.3) (DOK 1)
