Color Filter Array
In this era of advanced technology, most people use digital cameras instead of traditional film cameras to take photos. Digital cameras require a series of effective processing to provide users with good image quality, including non-linear correction, non-uniformity correction, white balance adjustment, compression, and the most important, color filter array (CFA) interpolation.
Full-color images are usually composed of three colors, red, green, and blue. However, for cost considerations, most digital cameras only have a single color sensor at each pixel position. The most commonly used CFA is the Bayer CFA, as shown in the figure below.
In CFA research, the main objective is to preserve edge information to provide good image quality and reduce the occurrence of Moire patterns.
