NSEA Human Rights Committee Mission Statement

Our mission as the NSEA Human Rights Committee is to advance our local union’s efforts to promote equity and social justice. The committee will address civil and human rights initiatives and social justice issues facing members and their communities.  We stand in solidarity with the oppressed and fight to ensure that every individual has equal access to opportunities, empowering people to have choices and control over their own destiny. We believe that injustice and oppression in our schools and communities directly impacts all our stakeholders and members. Socially responsive educational systems afford individuals and groups fair treatment and an impartial share of society’s benefits as multiple expressions of diversity add value to all teaching and learning.
