About me:  Dr. Naveen Saini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad, India, where he leads the IRIS (Information Retrieval & Intelligent Semantics) Lab, a research group dedicated to advancing intelligent information access. His research spans information retrieval, natural language processing, automatic text summarization, scholarly data mining, machine learning, multi-objective optimization, and evolutionary algorithms. More recently, his work has expanded to multilingual and multimodal AI, trustworthy and explainable AI, generative AI, and large language models, with applications in healthcare, scientific document understanding, computational social science, and digital governance. Through the IRIS Lab, he develops robust, scalable, and human-centric AI systems that bridge fundamental research with real-world societal applications 

Prior to joining IIIT Allahabad, Dr. Saini served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at IIIT Lucknow. He has also held academic and research positions as an Assistant Professor at Endicott College of International Studies, Woosong University, South Korea, and as a researcher at the 4IR Applied Research Center.

Dr. Saini completed his postdoctoral research at Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France, in collaboration with IRIT (Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse), where he worked with Prof. Antoine Doucet and Dr. Jose Moreno on Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing. He received his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) under the supervision of Dr. Sriparna Saha and Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya.

His long-term research vision is to develop trustworthy, explainable, and inclusive AI systems that enable intelligent access to information and support data-driven decision-making across diverse application domains.
