Geometry and Arithmetics of Algebraic Varieties of Non-Positive Curvature
(NPAAG)
(NPAAG)
The NPAAG project (Math-AmSud 2024–2026) is a collaborative initiative between researchers in Chile, France, and Uruguay.
Its goal is to strengthen international cooperation in algebraic and arithmetic geometry, with a special focus on Fano and Calabi–Yau varieties, automorphism groups, and equivariant birational geometry.
Scientific Events
The backbone of NPAAG is a series of three international meetings designed to foster collaboration, train young researchers, and build lasting scientific networks:
Workshop: Arithmetics of non-positively curved varieties
Poitiers, France — October 15–17, 2025
Focus on arithmetic geometry and equivariant birational geometry of Fano varieties.
Workshop: Algebraic varieties and their singularities
Talca, Chile — December 1–5, 2025
Discussions on the interplay between Fano and Calabi–Yau varieties, including Cox rings, K3 surfaces, and singularities.
Research School: Geometry and Arithmetics of Algebraic Varieties of Non-Positive Curvature
Montevideo, Uruguay — August 31–September 4, 2026 (tentative)
Aimed at doctoral students and young researchers, it will include three intensive courses on varieties with trivial canonical class (K3 and hyper-Kähler), the birational geometry of Mori fiber spaces, and arithmetic aspects of reductive groups and their representations.
Chile: Alvaro Liendo, Universidad de Talca, Chile
France: Adrien Dubouloz, Université de Poitiers, France
Uruguay: Iván Pan, Universidad de la República, Uruguay
