Module: Festival & Event Management
This module aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills in arts festival and event management. The module will focus on discussing the intricacies of fulfilling the key performance indicators of performing arts festivals and events. In particular, the students will learn how to formulate creative strategies to tackle the complex demands of conceptualising, programming, logistics planning, human resource management and risk management. They will also gain insights into the latest management practices in the local as well as the international industries.
Project: Implementing activities for seniors
Students visited four Senior Activity Centres (SACs) under Fei Yue for four sessions. Reflecting on their experience at the SACs, they designed and implemented age-appropriate activities for the seniors at the centres.
Module: Collaboration with Families & Communities
This module equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to work with families and communities. Students will recognise the importance of the child’s family and will explore different models and strategies to help them connect with the home, school and community. Policies and practices in relation to children, families and the communities as well as theories on the changing family, family policies and support networks will also be introduced.
Project: Conducting a programme for children & their parents
Students conducted a 30-minute ‘Jiggle, Read and Rhyme’ session with toddlers and parents in which they used music, stories and rhymes. They also educated parents on the types of literacy skills and benefits of doing storytelling with young children.
Project: Developing resources for preschool teachers and parents
One group of students created resource kits for teachers and parents to educate young children (Playgroup to Kindergarten 2 level) on various topics (e.g. physical well-being and exercise, mental well-being, dental care and hygiene, healthy eating and nutrition) through the use of games and activities. Another group of students created resources for a Parents' Corner, to provide parents from low income families with information on the support services available, resources and tips they can use when educating their children.
Project: Conducting a Music & Movement workshop
Students planned and conducted a 1.5-hour music and movement workshop for young children and their families, looking at the use of textures to enhance children’s creativity.
Project: Executing an activity to promote kindness in children
Students planned and executed an activity to encourage young children to show more kindness to others (e.g. towards foreign workers, etc).
Module: Communication in Tamil 1
The module develops the core skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in Tamil. Students also learn the technicalities of Tamil language like Tamil word classification and formation of words, grammar, syntax, phonology and semantic, enabling them be an effective user of the Tamil language.
Project: Designing & conducting activities for preschoolers
Students conducted a storytelling activity for the children at a kindergarten after three visits and bonding with the children. They were able to put into practice the techniques they have learnt, to keep the children engaged in the story. Thereafter, they played a game they created to instill a value extracted from the storybook into the children.
Module: The Child & the Creative Curriculum
This module introduces students to the creative arts for children and will also include the arts and crafts (e.g. Tanjore painting, temple art and folk & tribal art), music and dance (e.g. Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathakali), unique to the Tamil and Indian community. Theories related to creativity and aesthetic development will help students understand and implement creative art-based integrated approaches to learning. They will gain insights into children’s thinking and their world by analysing their creative expressions. Students will also analyse the teacher’s role in enhancing creativity as well as in planning and implementing child-centred, age-appropriate and integrated activities for the creative arts.

Students designed and conducted developmentally appropriate lesson plans with Music & Movement and Art & Craft Activities for preschoolers at Yishun Community Centre. They also conducted Parent-Child storytelling activities at Bukit Panjang Library, and Arts & Craft activities at Frontier and Zhenghua Community Clubs.

Modules: Abnormal Psychology; Group Dynamics & Facilitation; Health Psychology; Managing Social Services; Statistics & Research Methods 2
Abnormal Psychology examines scientific perspectives in psychopathology. It focuses on the theories and research on the etiology and intervention for major psychological disorders and the description of their signs and symptoms.
Group Dynamics & Facilitation explores how an individual’s behaviour may differ depending on the individual’s current or prospective connections to a group. The aim is to equip students with theories and research findings aimed at improving group effectiveness, and to build the skills required to apply that knowledge in practical situations such as managing conflicts in groups.
Health Psychology studies the interaction of biopsychosocial factors underlying physical and mental health and explores various health-related issues including health behaviours, stress, coping and resilience, patient- provider relationships and implications and the management of chronic illnesses.
Managing Social Services provides a fundamental intervention framework for working with individuals, families, groups and communities. The aim is to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills in the development, management and implementation of programmes, as well as volunteer and case management. Students will also gain an understanding of the changing social landscape and its impact on social services.
Statistics & Research Methods 2 builds on the statistical and methodological foundation course, Statistics and Research Methods 1. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills in conducting research in the area of psychology and social services. Students are introduced to factorial experimental designs and computer statistical packages for data analysis. They are taught laboratory report writing skills and will participate in class experiments as well as conduct a group research.
Project: Designing & implementing activities to develop social emotional learning in children
Students observed and interviewed teachers at Care Corner Singapore to better understand the needs at their centres to design and implement behaviour modification activities and lessons on social emotional learning for the children at the Woodlands and Admiralty Care Corner Centres. This involved integrating and putting into practice what they had learnt from their different modules.
Module: Project Management
This module teaches students the skills required for effective project management for social enterprise: planning, scheduling, monitoring, managing and evaluating. The Project Management Life Cycle will be introduced, and students will have to manage and implement a real project as part of the module. Project management software will also be introduced as useful tools for the module.
1) Project: Organising an event to promote a community savings programme
Students organised a mini carnival to launch Project Tabung, a community savings programme for low-income families with young children.
2) Project: Equipping youth with personal skills and exam techniques
Students organised Project SEED, a programme for youth, to equip them on personal skills to handle stress as well as exam techniques. The programme included motivational talks by guest speakers and an activity modelled after "Amazing Race".
Project: Organising an event to celebrate active ageing
Students organised Senior Connects, a 60's themed event to celebrate active ageing and promote participation by elderly at risk of social isolation. The event included games, food, and entertainment.
Project: Organising an appreciation event for caregivers
To appreciate caregivers of children with chronic illnesses, students organised Kiitos Chronicle, a heroes-themed event which included craft workshops to make gifts, capes and shields.
1) Project: Showcasing stories and talents of blind people
Students organised Through My Eyes, an interactive exhibition showcasing the stories and talents of visually impaired staff of Dialogue in the Dark Singapore.
2) Project: Promoting inclusivity via an experiential exhibition
Students organised Sightful Ones, an experiential exhibition on GoalBall (a sports played by blind athletes) to promote inclusivity towards people with visual impairment.

Students organised Fashion.Able, an event to promote inclusivity towards people living with disabilities. The event included an exhibition with a mug-making activity, an encouragement board, donation of second-hand clothing and retail sales.
