Joshua-Pierre Moore has performed in a number of productions with ASU Music Theatre and Opera, and he is thrilled to be performing the role of Major General in The Pirates of Penzance! JP is in his second year pursuing a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance, where he has played roles such as Nick Shadow in The Rake’s Progress and Sulpice in Daughter of the Regiment. Graduating in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Music for Vocal Performance, JP has performed roles such as Ariodate in Xerxes, Le Roi in Cendrillon, and Sarastro in The Magic Flute. JP is excited to continue his studies and hopes you enjoy the show!
Liam Boyd is currently a senior musical theatre student at Arizona State University. Matt Griesgraber is a senior music theatre performance major. He has been seen in other ASU productions such as Billy Cane in (Bright Star), All Good Gifts soloist (Godspell), and Rapunzels Prince (Into The Woods). Gabrielle Salomon She/Her/Hers, is a fourth-year undergraduate studying Vocal Performance and Music Learning and Teaching with a History minor under Dr. Amanda DeMaris. Her previous credits include Anne Trulove's cover in The Rake’s Progress, Meg in Dickstein’s Little Women, and Alexandra in the live world premiere of 600 Square Feet by Nkeiru Okoye. She likes to stay active in the local music community as the soprano section leader at Victory Lutheran Church and music directing at Phoenix Theatre Company summer camps. She would like to thank the cast and crew for their support throughout the rehearsal process!
Carlie Beckert grew up in Utah and graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance. She was most recently seen in ASU’s production of Into the Woods as Jack’s Mother, The Rake’s Progress as Mother Goose, and Daughter of the Regiment as the Marquis. She has also performed with UVU Opera, UVAA Opera, and Utah Festival Opera holding leading and supporting roles: Prince Orlovsky (Die Fledermaus), Gertrude (Romeo et Juliette), Third Lady (Magic Flute), Flora (La Traviata), and ensemble (Carmen, Magic Flute, and The Tenderland). Thank you to the amazing MTO faculty, this amazing cast, and all of you for coming to support.
Brady Larson He/Him/His, is Brady's 5th show with ASU Music Theater and Opera. His favorite shows include We've Got Our Eye On You, Songs for Liquid Days, Little Women, and Daughter of the Regiment. He is currently a Senior pursuing a BA in Vocal Performance. Saylem duPont She/Her - Is excited to take the stage in Pirates of Penzance! She is a fourth year double major in Vocal Performance, and Music Learning and Teaching. Katherine Bartlett is thrilled to be a part of her third opera with Arizona State University Opera. Katie has performed opera and musical theatre roles including Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress, Euridice in Orpheus in the Underworld, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Prima Donna in Viva la mamma, Jo March in Little Women, and Veronica Sawyer in Heathers. She graduated from Mercer University with a BM in Vocal Performance and she is currently pursuing an MM in Opera Performance in the studio of Dr. Stephanie Weiss. Tawny Audi is thrilled to be a part of the cast of The Pirates of Penzance at ASU. She is in her senior year working towards her Bachelor’s in Music for Musical Theater. A native of Arizona, Tawny has had the opportunity to work with theaters around the valley. Past credits include Whatsername in American Idiot & Mae Coleman in Reefer Madness (Greasepaint), Florika in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Theaterworks), and Andrina in The Little Mermaid (Hale). Paige Boulter is thrilled to get to perform in her first show at ASU. She is a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Music for Musical Theater Performance. She has performed in several shows throughout her time in junior high and high school. Her lead roles include Ursula in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr, Lisa (understudy) in Mamma Mia, and Gabriella Montez in Disney's High School Musical. Gabrielle Gernon She/Her/Hers is a sophomore pursuing her Bachelor’s in Music for Music Theatre Performance. Previous appearances in ASU productions include Lucinda in Into the Woods, Soprano/Soloist in Songs from Liquid Days, and Swing for #2 and #8 in the play Wolves. Back home in Louisiana, she performed many different roles in various productions, her favorites include Patty in Beehive and Kira in Xanadu. Yueyao Li is thrilled to be cast in Pirates of Penzance at ASU. She is a senior student majoring in Vocal Performance under Dr. Andrea Pitman-Will. She was last seen as chorus in The Rake’s Progress, The Daughter of the Regiment and We’ve Got Our Eye On You at ASU. Also, La Bohème at Chandler Opera Company. Kimberly Marsh is a senior pursuing her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and is extremely thrilled to be cast in The Pirates of Penzance! Kimberly was previously in the ensemble of ASU MTO’s production of Donizetti’s La fille du régiment last fall. She greatly enjoys performing in period costumes and collaborating with many talented individuals both on and off the stage. Holly Bingham is excited to be performing in The Pirates of Penzance at ASU. She is a second year Master’s student and is pursuing her Master’s in Music for Opera Performance. Her favorite roles include Amina in La sonnambula, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, and Nora in Riders to the Sea. Special thanks to her family, friends and professors who have always encouraged her to keep performing throughout the years. Grace Rogers is excited to be in her first operetta with ASU! She is a junior pursuing her Bachelor’s in Music for Musical Theatre Performance. A few of her favorite previous credits include Milo U/S and ensemble in An American In Paris (The Phoenix Theatre Company), Dorothy in Wizard of Oz, Kim MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, and Florence in The Odd Couple.
Alicia Marisol Werner is so excited to participate in MTO’s production of The Pirates of Penzance! She has greatly enjoyed getting to work with her peers and getting to know new students and faculty during the rehearsal process. Alicia is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in vocal performance at Arizona State University, studying with Stephanie Weiss. After completing her degree this Spring, she plans to begin working professionally with local Arizona Opera companies, as well as apply for graduate schools. Qiming Xue is excited to be cast in The Pirates of Penzance as her first production at ASU! She is a graduate student in Music Theatre Performance. Before coming to the U.S. this year, she has performed in regional theaters and tours in China, including Red Sorghum( Qian Er), Les Misérables (Cosette), Annie (Grace), The Little Match Girl(Mother). Kambria Cook is a graduate student from Richmond, Virginia studying Musical Theatre at Arizona State University. She graduated from Claflin University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. During her undergrad, she participated in very few shows. Therefore, she is uber excited to have the opportunity to be in the chorus for Pirates of Penzance. She has enjoyed her time working with the cast and crew and witnessing the hard work it takes to put on a show. Charlie Green She/Her/Hers, is so excited to be in Pirates of Penzance with ASU! She has previously been seen in ASU’s productions of Into the Woods and Head Over Heels, and will be playing Bev in The Mad Ones this October! Charlie is a junior Music Theatre Major with a minor in Psychology. Siena Zoe Liljegren She/Her/Hers, is 19 years old and is currently a sophomore Music Theatre Performance major at ASU. Some of her other favorite roles include Ocean O'Connell Rosenberg (Ride the Cyclone), Rona Lisa Peretti (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and Donna Sheridan (Mamma Mia!). Cassie Miller is delighted to be making her ASU debut with the Pirates of Penzance. She is currently a senior Performance and Movement major. Kendal Turpin She/Her/Hers, This is Kendal’s 2nd season with ASU Music Theatre and Opera. One of her favorite roles she has played is Martha in “The Secret Garden” ! Molly Virtue She/Her/Hers, is excited to be in her first operetta! She is a sophomore pursuing her Musical Theatre degree and a minor in Dance. Molly was a swing and understudy in both ASU mainstage musicals last year, Head Over Heels and Into the Woods. She is a proud recipient of the 2022 Gene Kelly Award for Best Supporting Actress. In her free time, Molly enjoys improvising comedic opera scenes with her roommates and cheering on the Buffalo Bills. Kaylyn Yager She/Her/Hers is so excited to be a part of Pirates of Penzance! She is a Sophomore, working on a BA in Vocal Performance. This is her first time performing at Arizona State University. Some of her favorite previous roles include Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella in Into the Woods, and Carol Strong in Catch Me If You Can. She also enjoys performing in Arizona State University’s Concert Choir and is pursuing a secondary degree in Biology. She would like to thank her family for their never-ending support.
Nicky Caldwell is ecstatic to be in Pirates of Penzance. He completed a BM in music theatre performance at Carthage College, and is now a first year masters student pursuing an MM in music theatre performance at ASU. He has performed all over the country and abroad (including Midwestern and European tours). Some of his favorite roles include: Emmett Forrest in Legally Blonde, Man 2 in Songs for A New World, and Jerry in Betrayal. He will be playing Higgins in ASU’s production of Miss You Like Hell later this semester. Nicky would like to thank his family for their constant support, and he hopes you enjoy the show!

Judah Janelle is very excited to join the company of The Pirates Of Penzance here at ASU! This is his first time being a pirate unless you count the time he wanted to watch Stranger Things and didn't have a Netflix subscription. He is a sophomore pursuing a minor in Music Theatre here at Arizona State, with shared interests in writing and directing new theater works. He would like to thank his family and friends, the entire cast and crew, and you; for choosing to support local theatre!
Ben Sasnett is a first-year master's student at ASU. He's thrilled to be here in beautiful Arizona and is grateful to be a part of this fantastic production. Some favorite past roles include Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, Tony in West Side Story, Rodolfo in La Bohème, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. Some of his oratorio credits include the tenor soloist in Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and the premier of Haydn's Creation in Varna, Bulgaria. Cael Szabados Is excited to make his debut opera performance with this spectacular production of The Pirates of Penzance. He is a 3rd-year student obtaining degrees in both vocal performance and music learning and teaching. He has performed with a multitude of different ensembles including ASU Concert Choir as well as the Phoenix Chorale. He thanks his family, friends, and mentors for their continuous love and support.
Carlos Elias Barraza Treviño is a musician hailing from Chihuahua, Mexico. With a bachelor's degree in music education with an emphasis in voice from the University of Texas at El Paso, Carlos has demonstrated a commitment to the art of vocal performance. He recently completed a master's degree in Voice Performance and pedagogy and is currently a graduate teaching assistant at Arizona State University, where he is pursuing a doctoral degree in Vocal Performance. Carlos has a deep passion for art songs, particularly in German and Spanish. His dedication to the craft has earned him numerous accolades and opportunities. He has also been a recipient of UTEP Voice Scholarships and the ASU School of Music Graduate Teaching Assistantship. Carlos's talents extend beyond the stage. As a music educator, he has taught voice lessons at the undergraduate level and mentored high school students in the All-State choir process. With his unwavering commitment to excellence in vocal performance and pedagogy, Carlos is poised to make a significant impact on the world of music.
Garrett Venable is glad to show their dance, vocal, and acting training in the Pirates of Penzance operetta. He is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Theater Arts- Acting. Previous positions and roles are Assistant Stage Manager at Theater Works Newsies, Stage Manager for You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, and as Hal in Murder at the Prop Table at Glendale Community College Performing Arts Center.
Atticus Adair is thrilled to be in Pirates of Penzance at ASU. He is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor's in Science as an Earth and Space Exploration (Exploration Systems Design) Major, with plans to add a Minor in Music Theatre. Pirates of Penzance is his favorite opera, and he is so excited to perform in it as his first show at ASU! His favorite previous roles include Charlemagne from Pippin and Zebulun from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Joseph Green is ecstatic to be part of his first production at ASU. He is currently a sophomore pursuing a B.A. in Theatre Acting. Some of his favorite previous roles include Tevye in Fiddler on The Roof and The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. Julian Lamarti is from Westchester, New York. He is currently pursuing a Master’s of Music in Conducting with an emphasis on musical theater at Arizona State University, where he is a teaching assistant for the Musical Theater and Opera program. Julian holds a Bachelor's degree in music from Binghamton University, having focused on collaborative piano, orchestral conducting, and music directing. This is his first production with ASU, and he is incredibly grateful and excited to work alongside the amazing cast and crew.
Arjun Paramore Jr. is a sophomore here at ASU and is obtaining his bachelor’s degree in music for musical theatre performance and a minor in business all while obtaining his teaching license . This is his fourth show here at ASU. He has also performed in ASU’s Daughter of the Regiment, Head Over Heels, Pipeline, and his local high school theater, Long Beach Polytechnic High School, as Shrek in “Shrek the Musical,” Special thanks to his family, friends, and cast and crew, for all their patience, love, and support. Prescott Smidt is excited to be back onstage at Arizona State University! He is a sophomore in Barrett, The Honors College, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre, a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy, and a Spanish minor. Latino-American director, David Radamés Toro, applies his background in music and mime to create innovative opera productions. He has worked at companies such as Minnesota Opera, the Wexford Opera Festival, Seattle Opera, and Washington National Opera.
An admirer of modern-era opera, David has had the privilege of directing 21st-century works such as Dead Man Walking (Opera Idaho, 2022), The Shining (Opera Colorado, 2022), Glory Denied, (Opera Fayetteville, 2020), and Flight (Minnesota Opera, 2020). He also enjoys directing opera for young audiences and has done so with Tri-Cities Opera, Minnesota Opera, and Opera Saratoga.
Future productions include: Cruzar la Cara de la Luna (director, Minneapolis Opera & Austin Opera), The Lion, The Unicorn, and Me (assistant director, Washington National Opera), and Le nozze di Figaro (Director, Arizona State University).
Equally at home in opera and musical theatre, and involved with the development of over two dozen new works, Brian DeMaris currently serves as Principal Conductor of Anchorage Opera and Artistic Director of Music Theatre and Opera at Arizona State University. He has led productions with Anchorage Opera, Opera Columbus, El Paso Opera, Mill City Summer Opera, Syracuse Opera, Tri-Cities Opera, Ash Lawn Opera, American Lyric Theatre, and American Opera Projects. He has served as Associate Conductor of New York City Opera, Assistant Conductor of Florida Grand Opera and Glimmerglass Opera, Resident Conductor of Ashlawn Opera Festival, and Répétiteur at Opera Theater of Saint Louis. He has appeared at the United Nations, the Aspen Music Festival, Boston’s Jordan Hall, New York’s Studio 54, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Alice Tully Hall, and in recitals, competitions, and master classes throughout the United States and abroad. He is the 2nd place winner of the 2013 and 2015 American Prize in Opera and Musical Theater Conducting. He was previously Director of Opera and Musical Theatre at Ithaca College and founding Music Director of the Mill City Summer Opera in Minneapolis.
Bri Sieminski she/they is a BMUS Music Theatre major at ASU. Her production credits include Assistant Director and Choreographer for the new musical Subplots at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. She has also performed in several musicals and operas at ASU; some of her favorite roles include being Beth in Little Women, the “Day by Day” soloist in Godspell and Dance Captain/Ensemble in Head Over Heels. She is currently looking forward to co-directing and choreographing Theory of Relativity at ASU in January! @bri_sie
Lindsay Miller She/Her/Hers, is currently pursuing a Master's in Music for Conducting (Music Theatre) and works as a TA in the MTO department. Last season, she music directed Head Over Heels and played rehearsal/pit piano for Into The Woods. This season, she will be music directing Miss You Like Hell and Pippin. Other recent credits: Associate Music Director/Keyboard Conductor of J2 Spotlight's Off-Broadway revival of Sugar, Music Director of The Little Mermaid at The College Light Opera Company. Hannah Maner She/Her/Hers, is new to the MTO family, with this being her first production! Her recent credits include The Prom, Ain’t Misbehavin, and Big River with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma and Bright Star and The Children of Eden with Oklahoma Opera & Music Theatre Company. Hannah would like to thank her family and friends for all of their support. Roll Tide, Go Stars, Forks Up!
MOLLY LAJOIE
Molly Lajoie is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the AMDA, New York. She has worked extensively throughout the valley performing, choreographing and directing. Some of her ASU choreography credits include Guys and Dolls, Company, The Drowsy Chaperone,Children of Eden, The Bartered Bride and H.M.S. Pinafore. She also directed and choreographed Kiss Me Kate here. She has choreographed and directed at many of the theatres in town including The Phoenix Theatre Company, Arizona Broadway Theatre, Black TheatreTroupe, Arizona Opera, TheaterWorks and Desert Stages. Molly’s a Faculty Associate in the MTO Program at ASU and the Director of TPTC’s Summer of Dance program.
Aimee Stewart is honored to be involved with this Pirates production. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Chandler Children’s Choir and is currently a graduate student in Choral Conducting here at ASU. She also conducts the Chamber Singers at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and the Tempe Community Messiah. She was the Music Director for Joseph and the Amazing… and Secret Garden at Tempe Preparatory Academy. In 2022, she was awarded AzACDA Choral Director of the Year. Special thanks to her husband Adam and son Oliver for supporting her in this endeavor!

The Music Theatre and Opera program in the School of Music at Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is committed to preparing outstanding music theatre and opera artists for professional careers in the 21st century. Through expert individual and classroom instruction, the production of operas and musicals, student-led workshops, new work development, research opportunities, dynamic community engagement and multiple professional collaborations, we foster a creative, student-centered environment that enables students to discover who they are as individuals and artists, at their own pace, in their own unique way, at the highest level.
