Dear Northside...

By Brooke Shelton & Tristian Gl.

Dear Northside,

We come together today with a plea for unity and a call to action. The time has come for us to address the issue that has left students worried or appalled. Teachers haven’t been giving out as many golden tickets as usual or as often, which is strange. Last year, golden tickets were an everyday thing. They are weekly, or should be, or rarely these days.

If I were a teacher, I would give out millions of golden tickets, but some teachers think otherwise. We did a survey on whether teachers like giving out golden tickets. What does the golden ticket stand for? The G in gold stands for Guardians, the O stands for Organized, the L stands for Leader, and the D stands for Disciplined; some teachers said yes! Some teachers said no! Golden tickets are a valuable thing. Ranging from one golden ticket to 100 tickets, tickets, you can buy things such as candy, food, objects, school equipment, and many more!

Now let’s talk about teachers not giving out golden tickets. Tickets are a way for teachers to show if a student is doing good or not. Teachers are making it seem like some students are just not doing good. It's a great way to keep track of how you have been doing in school. The evidence shows last year the students' golden ticket rate would range from 1-150, now the rate is 1-70. A good way to solve this is by letting your teacher know they need to give out golden tickets. Remind teachers that giving out golden tickets is not a wanted thing but is a needed thing. Golden tickets are a thing that many students love. Why don’t teachers give them out? Ms. Benne would like to give out golden tickets but has not received any in her box. Ms. Orange, not around students much, would give them out when she sees good things happening. Ms. Benson and Voss don’t give them out because they don’t think about it and don’t think 8th graders are that interested.

But we found out that it might not be the teachers but the students. Delia Bean likes receiving because you can get candy, food, objects, and prizes like pens, croc gibbets, and other cool things. Aleyja Eggleston doesn’t like getting golden tickets; she doesn’t like getting them because it’s a waste of time. So, with the information we gathered, it remains a mystery whether it's the teachers who don’t like giving out golden tickets or if it's the students who don’t like receiving them.
