This policy explains what information the Notes AI – OWZE app (the "App") uses, why, and your choices. The App is made by an individual developer ("we", "us"). Contact: contact@oussamaanedam.com.
1. The short version
No account. You don't sign up. We don't ask for your email, phone number or full name.
Your study data stays on your phone. Decks, quizzes, summaries, progress, streaks and the first name you enter are stored only on your device.
Your photos and notes are used only to create your study set. We don't keep them and don't use them to train AI.
We don't sell your data, and we never send you marketing emails or SMS.
2. Information stored only on your device
The App stores the following locally on your iPhone. We do not receive it:
the first name you enter during onboarding (used for greetings and reminders);
your onboarding choices (goal, subjects, level, daily goal, reminder time);
your decks, flashcards, quizzes, summaries, study sessions, streaks and settings.
You can delete all of it at any time with Settings → Clear all data, or by deleting the App.
3. Information we process
3.1 Study material you submit. When you create a study set, the photos, scans or text you choose are sent over an encrypted connection to our server (hosted by Supabase), which passes them to our AI provider: Replicate, running AI models from OpenAI. They are used only to generate your flashcards, quiz and summary. We do not store your photos or notes after the study set is returned, and they are not used to train AI models. Our providers process them under their own privacy terms and may keep them briefly for security and processing.
The App only accesses your camera or photo library when you choose to scan or pick a photo, and only with your permission.
3.2 Anonymous app ID and usage limits. The App uses a random anonymous ID (created by our subscription provider, RevenueCat). With each study set, our server records this ID, the date and a daily count, to apply the free-plan and fair-use limits and prevent abuse. It is not linked to your name, email or content.
3.3 Subscriptions. Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat receives your purchase and subscription status, linked to the anonymous app ID, so we can unlock OWZE Pro and restore purchases.
3.4 App analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the App is used and to improve it. It receives:
events such as "study set created", "quiz completed" or "paywall viewed";
basic onboarding answers, such as goal and subjects (never your name);
app and device information: app version, device model, iOS version, app language, device language and region, and approximate location derived from your IP address;
a random analytics ID.
PostHog does not receive your study material.
3.5 Advertising attribution. We use AppsFlyer to measure which ads bring people to the App. AppsFlyer receives:
device and install information (such as IP address, device model and the iOS vendor identifier);
a few in-app events (completing onboarding, viewing the paywall);
subscription events, through RevenueCat.
Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) is only collected if you allow tracking in Apple's "Allow tracking" prompt. You can change this anytime in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
3.6 Notifications. Study reminders are created and scheduled on your device. We don't use push tokens or send notifications from a server. You can turn reminders off in the App or in iPhone Settings.
3.7 Support. If you email us, we use your email and message only to reply.
4. Why we use information (legal bases, for UK/EU users)
To provide the App (generating study sets, applying limits, subscriptions): performance of our contract with you.
Analytics and app improvement: our legitimate interest in running and improving the App.
Advertising attribution with IDFA: your consent, given through Apple's tracking prompt.
Legal obligations, where applicable.
5. Sharing
We share information only with the service providers listed above (Supabase, Replicate/OpenAI, RevenueCat, PostHog, AppsFlyer, Apple), only for the purposes described. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except through AppsFlyer attribution when you allow tracking.
6. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Retention
Data on your device: until you clear it or delete the App.
Study material sent for generation: not stored by us after processing.
Daily usage counts: only as long as needed to apply limits and prevent abuse.
Analytics and attribution data: kept by PostHog and AppsFlyer under their retention settings, typically up to 2 years.
Support emails: as long as needed to help you.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or California law), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Because the App has no accounts, most of your data is on your device, and you can delete it yourself. For data held by our providers, email contact@oussamaanedam.com. We may need information from your device to find it, such as the anonymous app ID. We will respond within the time required by law.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to our servers is restricted. No method is 100% secure, but we keep the data we process to a minimum.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will post the new version with a new effective date. Important changes may also be shown in the App.
