Thank you for choosing NoteNest - Personal Notes ("NoteNest", "we", "our", or "the App"). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

1. INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE

1.1 Local Data Storage

NoteNest stores all your notes, folders, tags, and preferences locally on your device. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store your personal notes, data, or content on any external servers. Your notes remain entirely on your device unless you choose to share or export them.

1.2 Data We Do NOT Collect

- We do not collect your name, email address, or personal information

- We do not collect or access the content of your notes

- We do not track your location

- We do not access your contacts, call logs, or messages

- We do not collect device identifiers for our own analytics

1.3 Biometric Data

If you choose to enable biometric unlock (fingerprint), the biometric data is processed entirely on your device using Android's BiometricPrompt API. We never access, store, or transmit any biometric data. The biometric authentication is handled solely by your device's secure hardware.

2. ADVERTISING

2.1 Google AdMob

NoteNest uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect certain data as described in Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). This may include:

- Device information (device model, operating system version)

- Advertising ID

- IP address

- App usage data for ad personalization

2.2 Ad Personalization

Upon first launch, you will be asked whether you consent to personalized ads. You can change this preference at any time in the app settings. If you opt out of personalized ads, you will still see ads, but they will not be tailored to your interests.

2.3 Your Choices

You can control ad personalization through:

- The consent dialog shown on first launch

- Your device's advertising settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads)

- Google's ad settings (https://adssettings.google.com)

3. PERMISSIONS

NoteNest requests only the permissions necessary for its functionality:

- INTERNET: Required for displaying advertisements

- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to check network availability for ads

- USE_BIOMETRIC: Required for biometric app/note lock feature (optional)

- RECORD_AUDIO: Required for voice notes feature (optional, requested only when used)

- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required for note reminders (optional)

- SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Required for precise note reminders

- VIBRATE: Required for haptic feedback

- AD_ID: Used by AdMob for ad serving

All permissions are requested only when needed and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.

4. DATA SECURITY

4.1 Encryption

NoteNest uses SQLCipher encryption for the local database, ensuring your notes are encrypted at rest on your device. Individual notes can also be locked with a PIN or biometric authentication.

4.2 App Lock

The app supports PIN and biometric lock features. PIN data is stored securely on your device using Android's DataStore with encryption. We cannot access or recover your PIN.

4.3 Backup and Restore

Backup files are created locally on your device. You control where backup files are stored and shared. We do not have access to your backup files.

5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

NoteNest is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The App uses the following third-party services:

- Google AdMob (advertising): https://policies.google.com/privacy

- Google Play Services: https://policies.google.com/privacy

These services may collect information used to identify you. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

7. DATA RETENTION

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

- Your data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app

- Deleted notes are moved to Trash and automatically permanently deleted after 30 days

- Uninstalling the app removes all local data

- We retain no data on any servers

8. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:

- Access all your data (it's stored locally on your device)

- Delete any or all of your data at any time

- Export your data using the backup feature

- Opt out of personalized advertising

- Revoke any permissions granted to the app

9. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
