Reliability, Risk & Resilience Assessment

The mission of our research group is to create knowledge and tools for enhancing the sustainability and resilience of our built environment. We engage predictive computational science, risk and reliability assessment, and artificial intelligence for an improved understanding and reliable prediction of performance of materials, structures, and infrastructures, and map this knowledge back to the decision regarding their design and managements. Our research group particularly focused on two research thrusts: 

•   risk, reliability, and resilience assessment of structures and infrastructure systems subjected to chronic (progressive deterioration ) and acute stressors (natural hazards)

• physics-based multiscale modeling for prediction of mechanical response and failure in heterogeneous materials.
