North of England Brass Band Championships - 2nd Section
For a second consecutive year North Skelton Band were winners of the North of England 2nd Section Championships. North Skelton were performing Rise of the Pheonix by Darrol Barry under the skilled baton of Lewis Wilkinson. Also for a second year in a row the principal Euphonium player of the band, Chris Coupland walked away with the prize of Best Euphonium. Michael Holliday was also the winner of Best Soprano.
For a second year in a row North Skelton Band will be representing the North of England at the National Brass Band Finals at Cheltenham Racecourse in September.
DBBA Durham Festival of Brass Section A Champions
North Skelton band performed in section A of the Durham Festival of Brass held in Peterlee. North Skelton successfully defended their title of Section A Champions, and again won the prize for Best Percussion.
North Skelton performed Saga of Haakon the Good by Philip Sparke.

North Skelton band were winner of best second section band at the Yorkshire and Humberside contest, where we played Saga of Haakon the Good by Philip Sparke
National Finals 2018
North Skelton band represented the North of England, in the National Brass Band Second Section Final's held at Cheltenham. We were drawn to play number fourteen. Early afternoon under the baton of Lewis Wilkinson, we took to the stage and performed the test piece Firestorm by Stephen Bulla in front of the audience, and three adjudicators, David Hirst, Roger Webster and Brian Rostron. We were one of eighteen bands from around the country to have won the honour to represent their region.
Having impressed all three adjudicators North Skelton band were awarded 3rd place, and our soprano cornet player Jo Robinson was awarded the prize for being the best instrumentalist from all the bands in the contest.
