Resident Space Reservations
We are an artist live/work community in Minneapolis' Harrison Neighborhood.
Are you a resident who would like to host an event, reserve studio space, or form a committee? This is the place for you!
*In order to reserve a space or start a committee you must be a Northside Artspace Lofts resident.
Join our Facebook Group, Northside Artspace Lofts, for the most current building news.
Check the calendar for availability. It is posted on the management office wall and can be seen through the door. Reservations are first come, first serve. You may not write over someone else’s reservation.
Fill out 1) Community Room and Kitchen Space Request Form and 2) Space Usage Acknowledgment. You can also get hard copies of these forms from the management office.
When you turn in these two forms to the management office you may write your event on the calendar if the date is available. You may not write over someone else's reservation. If there is a problem with your reservation a member of the Events and Exhibition Committee will reach out to you.
You may reserve the community room and kitchen one time per month, and sign-ups can be made up to three months in advance. Only three months of calendars will be displayed at a time.
Event rules for all spaces:
No propping of exterior doors
No alcohol
Quiet hours are from 10pm-7am. No loud music or activities indoors or outdoors after 10pm.
You are responsible to fully clean the space and remove all personal items immediately following your event. There is a cleaning list posted on the wall in each room. Failure to do so may result in lease violations and fines (Page 5 Section 11 of the Lease Agreement and Page 16 Section H of the Resident Handbook).
The calendars for the dance studio and sound studio are first come, first serve, and posted on the wall in the respective rooms. Please do not write over another person’s reservation.
Write your name, apartment number, public or private (is your event private or open to the NAL community) and reservation time on the desired date.
By signing up you agree to the Space Usage Acknowledgement (copies in the office) and agree to complete the posted cleaning list following your event.

Please contact the Exhibition Coordinator with your exhibition proposal.
The current Exhibition Coordinator is George Slade (georgegilbertslade[at]gmail.com).
These are our current committees:
Artist Interview Committee (meets as-needed). Contact Shaela Wilson to join.
Exhibition and Events Committee (meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Living Room).
Have another idea for a committee? Call a meeting and collaborate with whomever attends.
All Committees are resident-led to build community. All residents are welcome to any and all committee meetings. Committees do not have a power structure or hierarchy - if you attend, you are a full member at that meeting. All committees will take notes of their meetings and submit those notes to Metro Plains Magagement and Shaela Wilson so that any resident can request the notes to see what’s going on.
Artspace’s role with committees is to share best practices from other artist communities as well as ensure that any activities do not violate code or void a warranty.
If a committee has questions please ask. Artspace is here to foster, assist, guide, and approve as new committes are formed.
Collaborate on ideas, form a plan, and pass it to Shaela Wilson before implementing to confirm there are no issues.
This is your creative community. It will become and evolve into whatever you collectively make it.
Call a Meeting by creating a Meeting Invite Notice. This notice needs to include the Committee Name, Topic, Date, Time, Location (which can be virtual right now via someone’s personal Zoom or similar platform). It is ideal to call a meeting at least one week prior to give your neighbors time to plan their participation.
Invite All Residents by sending your invite to the MetroPlains Management office and copy Shaela Wilson to distribute your meeting invitation. This will ensure that all residents get the invite. It also ideal to create a flyer that can be posted in common areas and post in the community Facebook group. ALL residents must be invited to committee meetings.
At the start of the meeting, identify someone to take Committee Notes. These notes must be shared with MetroPlains Management and copied to Shaela Wilson. This will allow any resident to request copies of the notes. Alternatively, your committee can request that notes always be distributed to all residents.
Please attend a building meeting on the second Thursday of the month
in the Living Room (sofas next to the office).
