Field Study Subject Biography 

Hi! I'm Divine Joy D. Delgado. I am currently in my last year of studying the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED-ICT) major in Information and Communication Technology at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I am 22 years old and the youngest in a family with four children. 

In my field studies 1 and 2 at North Fairview High School, I am assigned to observe the class of Ms. Shanin A. Estavillo, a TLE-ICT teacher of grade 11 students. She teaches computer programming and animation. As I observed her, I realized that teaching is indeed difficult and draining, but if you have patience, dedication, and passion, you can do well. As a future educator, I am inspired to be a great teacher too.

Beliefs on Teaching and Learning (Pre and Post FS)

Before, I believed that the teacher's main job was to disseminate knowledge to the students, but after conducting the field studies, I realized that this is not their main job. Their main job is to facilitate and guide the student in acquiring the knowledge that the teacher will also disseminate. 

Also, before, I believed that students' skill, talent, dedication, and hard work were what made them good at learning, but after conducting the field studies, I realized that the teachers also play a big part in making students good at learning. For instance, teachers can think of strategies or methods of teaching that can make the student good at acquiring new knowledge.

Retrospection

Reminiscing on my experiences in field studies, I can say that I enjoy it. Especially because, aside from learning things in the field from professional teachers, I also had the opportunity to experience teaching and have the students learn from me. I can say that teaching is indeed difficult, but it will be worth it after seeing how you help students acquire new knowledge.
