New Dancers

New dancers are welcome to come along to Thursday nights at Gannawarra Center at 7.30.

The first Thursday of every month is Beginners' Welcome Night. We make sure there are easy dances and we finish dancing a bit early at 9 pm for supper and a get- to- know-you chat. But if that doesn't suit, come along any Thursday.

Here is a quick guide for new dancers to get you started with the basic moves. We all learn the dances together in the set, so Scottish Country Dance isn't a memory test! But becoming familiar with the basic figures will make starting out much easier.

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society has an enormous database with thousands of dances, their plain text instructions, 'cribs' and links to videos. Alphabetical Index here

New dancers often want to know how to find the most popular dances. Camberley Reel Club has thoughtfully put its dance repertoire into neat lists from extremely easy to moderately difficult and this is a good place to start.
