The Northern Solano Democratic Club strongly condemns the Trump regime’s attack on Venezuela, abduction of its president, and threatened seizure of its oil industry. This illegal attack on a sovereign nation is a desperate ploy to distract American families from the administration’s failed economic policy and the continued failure to release the Epstein files as demanded by Congress.

Let there be no mistake: Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro clings to power through rigged elections, a captive judiciary, and widespread human rights abuses. However, that does not give the United States the right to attack Venezuela and remove him from office. This brazen assault violated fundamental tenets of international law, and the repeated threats to “take over” the country or seize its oil industry on behalf of American companies only compound the evil. These actions put the lives of both Venezuelan people and American soldiers at unacceptable risk.

Moreover, we recognize this attack for what it is: a desperate attempt at distraction.  Trump and his allies have pushed a “billionaires first” agenda that has caused the prices of food and other household essentials to rise, stripped healthcare from millions of Americans, and taken away vital services relied on by veterans, children, and seniors.  They have stonewalled disclosure of the Epstein files, violating Congressional demands for a full and transparent release. We are not fooled.

We encourage the American people to speak up. Tell Trump and his administration: Stop the cover-up. Stop the warmongering and the attempts to create a new American Empire for the benefit of the billionaire class. The attempts to use our military for personal gain and without the support of Congress are unacceptable. American imperialism does not reflect our values and does not help the American people.
