Latest update: 18 May 2022

Brief bio: Hi, my name is Nopadon Juneam. I am currently an assistant professor of the Department of Computer Science at Kasetsart University, Thailand. I completed my PhD degree in Computer Science from Chiang Mai University, Thailand in 2017 under the co-supervision of Assoc. Prof. Sanpawat Kantabutra and Prof. Raymond Greenlaw. At Chiang Mai University, I was a member of the Theory of Computation Research Group. Prior to my PhD, I obtained my Bachelor Honors degree in Computer Engineering from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand. For more details, please see my CV.

Awards and Funds: I have recently been awarded the Supporting Research Grant for New Scholar 2021-2023 by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). I was also awarded the Royal Golden Jubilee PhD Scholarship (RGJ-PhD Scholarship) during 2011-2016 by Thailand Research Fund (TRF). For more details, please see my CV.

Research interest: I am interested in the design and analysis of algorithms for massive data sets. This spans to the studies of algorithms in various subareas including parallel algorithms, i.e., algorithms that exploit parallelism offered by parallel hardwares (e.g. multi-core, many-core, map-reduce systems); approximation algorithms, i.e., algorithms that yields solutions with approximation guarantees; randomized algorithms, i.e., fast algorithms that employ randomness for making decision; sub-linear space or streaming algorithms, i.e., algorithms that operates on small space where the input is given by a stream of data items.

My successful research in the past includes the topics, namely, fast parallel algorithms for some clustering problems (e.g. clustering to minimize the sum of cluster diameters, partition refining) for which I did for my PhD thesis, hardness and approximation algorithms for some graph problems (e.g. graph searching on spanning trees, k-hop domination in graphs), and fast parallel computing of portfolio optimization using GPU. For more details, please see about my publications.

Teaching: At Kasetsart University, I mostly taught courses related to subjects like Data Structures (2018-present), Algorithms (2017-2019), Automata Theory (2018-present), Parallel Computation (2017-present), and Machine Learning (2020). For more details, please see about my teaching courses.
