Ever since Amino came around, its alluring community feature has always been a source of connection for nonhumans of all kinds. Over the last decade (2012 on) it has been a place for nonhumans looking for others of their kind to intermingle.
Amino is still an semi-active place for nonhumans of all kinds, but does risk roleplayers and others of the like, including gatekeeping and toxicity. Today, you can find very few places that still inhabit active nonhumans who are still chatting and sharing information, but there still exists large groups that are graveyards of old activity.
Currently, Amino has been lost to time as the servers have been pulled off the internet permanently. The death of Amino was around December 19th, but its unknown the actual date when Amino's plug was pulled.
Today, all that remains of amino is web archives across various web crawlers.
