CarCam is a companion app for your dashcam. It connects to the dashcam's own WiFi so you can view the live stream, browse and save files, and change camera settings. This Privacy Policy explains the information the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Dashcam video, photos and settings. Live video, recordings, photos and camera settings are read directly from your dashcam over its local WiFi. This data goes between your phone and the dashcam only.
Files you save. Videos and photos you choose to save are stored on your phone.
Location. Used only to show your position and speed on the Speed and Maps screens. Location is processed on your device.
Local network. Used to find and communicate with your dashcam on its WiFi network.
Dashcam microphone control. The app can switch your dashcam's microphone on or off. It does not record audio from your phone.
Offline maps, if enabled. Map tiles you download are stored on your phone.
We do not collect, store or transmit your personal information to any server. CarCam has no accounts or sign-up, and no advertising or analytics tools.
We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone. Your videos, photos and location stay on your phone and your dashcam.
App data stays on your device. CarCam communicates with your dashcam over the dashcam's local WiFi network. That network has no internet connection and is protected by the password you set on it.
Change your dashcam's default WiFi password and keep your phone and dashcam secure.
We do not retain copies of your dashcam videos, photos or location on our servers. Saved media remains on your phone or dashcam until you delete it or the dashcam's recording settings replace it.
To remove saved videos or photos, delete them from the phone or dashcam where they are stored. To remove app-local data, use your phone's app storage controls or uninstall CarCam. Files exported to your phone's gallery or other folders may remain after uninstalling; delete those files separately.
CarCam does not create user accounts, so there is no CarCam account to delete. For help with deletion, contact maktro.com@gmail.com.
You can turn off Location and local network access at any time in your phone's Settings. Without the relevant permissions, CarCam may not be able to connect to the dashcam or show the map and speed screens.
CarCam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date on this page.
