Our Mission
Updates
We installed a brand new pantry this month. Check it out! If you would like to host a pantry, please contact us at nohungernowaste@gmail.com.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: No Hunger, No Waste. Nobody should go hungry, and no food should go waste.
In the Bay Area, there is no shortage of people who are willing to help by donating extra food, produce, or money towards the cause. We aim to build community solutions so that everyone has a chance to help.
How will we get there?
We build Little Free Pantries at locations that can reach people in need, and educate the community on ways they can help others.
The pantries make it easy for anyone to get help anytime. There is a map of registered pantries at mapping.littlefreepantry.org.
Little Free Pantries can be built almost anywhere, including your home!
If you would like us to build one for your residence, church, office, or shop, please contact us at nohungernowaste@gmail.com.
How can you help?
Host a pantry: Provide a space for us to build a pantry at no cost to you. We will install the pantry, fixed or movable as you like, and register it on littlefreepantry.org.
Pay for a pantry: The cost of one pantry is $513.96. Every dollar counts. Please donate at GoFundMe. Contact nohungernowaste@gmail.com for any questions.
Spread the word: Let others know about our movement through your social media. If you are hosting a pantry or know of one near you, post about it on your neighborhood's nextdoor to let others know about it.
Volunteer: We need volunteers for building and installing pantries. We will provide volunteer hours to workers who need it.

About Hunger and Food Insecurity
Hunger is an omnipresent and ever-present problem. Almost everywhere, families have to go hungry because they can’t afford food. Many times, kids rely on school lunches to eat. However, unlike school, hunger does not take a summer break, meaning that many kids’ primary source of food disappears for 2 months.
Many local organizations try to help with hunger. For example, the Afghan Coalition runs food drives to deliver to those who need it, and the TCV Food Bank collects spare food from stores and distributes them at their centers.
However, there is still a gaping hole. Many people are ashamed to say that they go hungry, and so refuse to register or ask for help from organizations such as the Afghan Coalition and TCV. Others don’t have means to access these organizations, since they live too far or don’t know where to find help. Those with many allergies wouldn’t be able to trust that food was obtained in a manner that is safe for them, and so refuse to accept help.
