“Net-zero emissions” refer to achieving a balance between the anthropogenic GHG emission and its removal from the atmosphere. Attaining net-zero emissions for sustainable developmentrequires an increasing interest in novel technologies that decarbonize conventional resource use and do not create new Carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. Achieving net-zero emissions is impossible without strong, targeted research and development initiatives in critical technology areas. 

The use of carbon capture, utilization and storage, incorporating direct Carbon dioxide capture from the atmosphere; the use of low-carbon hydrogen or hydrogen-based fuels; and the use of bioenergy and other renewable energy sources will be vital to achieving these emissions goals. However, each one faces techno-economical challenges and has yet to offer scalable, low-carbon solutions. The public and private sector industries and academia need to work together on planning policies and developing technology to achieve a carbon-neutral, decarbonized society by mid-century, limiting the global average surface temperature rise to 1.5 °C set by the Paris Agreement.

This two-day conference aims to disseminate the most recent developments in net-zero emission technologies and industrial challenges and opportunities. The conference will feature top policymakers and experts from within and outside India for deliberations on the following themes.
