Jul. 10
Hullo, hullo. The urge to update this journal has been tap-dancing in zig-zags across my brain for months now, but I held back since there’s really nothing substantial in the world of esme to report on! But perhaps you’ll spend some time here with me anyway.
Summer’s entrance has been cooler than usual this year. It feels more like gradually falling into a warm daze than the usual sweltering slap in the face. The rainy season is never long enough for my liking, and I miss it. In its wake, I keep finding lost little worms that accidentally wriggled their way onto the pavement.
I’ve had some really good cups of coffee in the four months since I wrote last, but I also made a mistake. For about two weeks, every morning I would wake up and fix myself an iced coffee with almond milk. I remember thinking the coffee was a bit tart for my liking, but coffee is coffee, so I dutifully drank it down.
I’ve never been good at paying attention to details outside of concepts and stories and things going on in my head. The real world just isn’t on my radar.
One morning, I opened up the carton of almond milk only to find it had grown unbearably sour. Even though it was supposed to last until March of next year. I crushed the carton and watched the contents weep down my drain with a nervous laugh.
I’m sorry, body. I didn’t mean to make you sick for so long. I was only paying attention to the timeline I was promised.
That’s life, though.
I hope I’ll be able to finish my project by winter! It’s taken much longer than I’d like, but yep (looks at the above sentence), checks out.
I enjoy updating Dragon’s Aria regularly and not telling anyone about it or advertising it anywhere! Which I should probably change! Yep! Maybe. Eventually.
Until next time!
