Since 1994, No Fear Fencing Club (NFFC) has helped Southern California athletes grow through personalized fencing training. Based in San Diego County, we’re proud to be the division’s longest-running USA Fencing club. Our focus is on supporting adult épée fencers who want to train seriously, compete confidently, and be part of a dedicated community.
Our Mission
We’re here to share the joy of fencing—making the sport welcoming, fun, and rewarding for everyone who steps onto the strip.
We believe in building community—by supporting fencers at every level and staying actively involved in the broader fencing world.
Welcoming Atmosphere – The club is designed to make beginners feel comfortable. Students are encouraged to learn at their own pace without fear of failure or embarrassment.
Psychology-Informed Coaching – Instruction often draws on behavioral and developmental psychology, using positive reinforcement, clear feedback, and structured skill progression to build competence and confidence.
Skill Development – Students learn footwork, bladework, tactics, and fencing etiquette in a step-by-step way that reduces anxiety and builds mastery.
Community Focus – Beyond fencing skills, the club fosters camaraderie, sportsmanship, and respect. It’s as much about building character and resilience as it is about winning bouts.
Safe, Inclusive Training – Safety is emphasized, both in terms of protective gear and in creating an emotionally supportive space where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities.
Progression Without Pressure – Whether someone wants to compete or just fence recreationally, the club offers pathways that let individuals set their own goals without fear of judgment.
