Before reading further, it's important to understand what PCI (or PCIe) slots do you have and their compatibility with your BIOS and operating system. These all have to work together to run the driver and thus the device you'll be installing on the slot. So before moving ahead, you're advised to refer the image depicting the various types of PCI and PCIe slots commonly found (Image 1).
