Integrated MSc. Chemistry,
Research Assistant - Papersens Private Limited, Yenepoya Technology Incubator,
Yenepoya deemed-to-be University, Deralakatte, Mangalore
Profile:
Ms. Gouri K S is an aspiring researcher who is currently serving as a Research Assistant in a startup environment at Papersens Private Limited, incubated within Yenepoya Technology Incubator (YTI), specializing in advanced biosensor development and biotech innovation. Gouri holds a Five-year Integrated MSc. degree in Chemistry from Amrita School of Physical Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, India, and possesses a strong interdisciplinary foundation. She has also gained significant research experience at the NanoBios Lab, Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay (IIT-B), India.
Her master's thesis focused on the development of a semi-quantitative paper-based microfluidic fluorimetric device, which honed her skills in paper device fabrication and fluorescence-based detection. Subsequently, as a Research Intern at the same lab, she focused on optimizing electrochemical deposition methods for Ag/AgCl films. She is proficient in both fluorescence-based detection and advanced electrochemical techniques, including Cyclic Voltammetry, Chronoamperometry, and Chronopotentiometry. Her commitment to research and innovation excellence is further demonstrated by attending a short-term internship at the Ultrafast Dynamics Lab, IIT-B, and obtaining hands-on proficiency in various electrochemical techniques through a specialized industrial workshop on Electrochemical Biosensors also held at IIT-B.
In her current role at Papersens, Gouri is a key contributor to developing immunosensing diagnostic platforms for neonatal healthcare. Her experience at Papersens provides invaluable exposure to startup project management, including regulatory processes, lab setup coordination, and technology translation from research to commercial solutions. Driven by the goal of transforming innovative research into sustainable, affordable and accessible sensing devices, her core interests are centered on translational research, for addressing challenges in healthcare, environmental and food safety sectors.
