Proceed on George St. Site is on the southeast corner of George and Craig St.
The Methodist Church, built in 1873, was once at 151 George St.
In 1925, the United Church of Canada was created with the amalgamation of Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational sects. In 1928, the Methodist Church was torn down so a portion of the materials could be used in the construction of the current United Church, located on Main St.
The stone bearing the inscription "W.M. Church 1866" was placed in the wall at the northwest corner of the new church as a token of continuity from early Methodism.
