Natural Language Processing Research Group

Department of CSE

Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology

Welcome!

The Natural Language Processing Group at Department of CSE, BUET is a team of faculty, research enthusiasts, programmers and students who work together on algorithms that allow computers to process and understand human languages. Our work ranges from basic research in computational linguistics to key applications in human language technology, and covers areas such as speech recognition, automatic question answering, machine translation, sentiment analysis, and models of text and visual scenes, as well as applications of natural language processing to the digital humanities and computational social sciences.

A distinguishing feature of our Group is our effective combination of sophisticated and deep linguistic modeling and data analysis with innovative probabilistic, machine learning, and deep learning approaches to NLP. Our research has resulted in state-of-the-art technology for Bangla speech recognition around the world and we are now trying to focus on other NLP related work applications for Bangla.

Achievements

Our researchers have accomplished great heights as their work has been recognized around the globe in top tier conferences of speech recognition applications. They are constantly breaking milestones and taking down all the challenges thrown at them. We have published our research works at the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, Language Resources and Evaluation Conference, and North American Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics. We are widely exploring NLP research opportunities and scopes for Bangla language and aim at achieving exemplary research work in natural language processing.

Applied Machine Learning Lab

The NLP research group has been allotted one of the most eye-catching lab facilities at CSE, BUET. The Applied Machine Learning laboratory is fully equipped with all the modern facilities required for students for the best practical experimentations for NLP. Here students can research, think, and discuss among themselves with comfort.
