PRIVACY POLICY FOR NITRO TYPE - RACE OPTIONS
Last updated: October 2026
1. INTRODUCTION & CORE PRIVACY COMMITMENT
Nitro Type - Race Options ("the Extension") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how your data is handled when you use the extension. We firmly believe that productivity and gaming tools should respect user privacy unconditionally.
Our core philosophy is simple:
• Zero personal data collection
• Zero telemetry or analytical tracking
• Zero communication with external third-party servers
• 100% local, client-side execution in your browser
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT (NONE)
The Extension does NOT collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, browsing history, typing keystrokes, Nitro Type account passwords, or financial data.
All race metrics (such as your session WPM, accuracy, and races counter) are calculated in real time purely within your local browser runtime and are never transmitted to any outside server.
3. DETAILED PERMISSIONS BREAKDOWN & WHY THEY ARE NEEDED
Users often ask: "Are all of these permissions strictly necessary?"
YES. The Extension adheres strictly to the Principle of Least Privilege. We have carefully scoped every permission so that it only requests the absolute minimum required to function properly. We do NOT request broad permissions like "<all_urls>", "webRequest", "cookies", "tabs", or "history". Notice also that we do not request "activeTab" because our scoped host permission already covers Nitro Type without requiring generic tab inspection.
Here is an honest, transparent breakdown of the exact permissions used:
A. "storage"
• Why it is needed:
The extension provides dozens of customizable settings — including dark mode palettes, font sizes, target pacing WPM, auto-reload toggles, and forced racetrack selections. The "storage" permission (via chrome.storage.local) is required solely to save these preferences locally on your computer so they persist across browser restarts.
• Is it strictly necessary?
Yes. Without the "storage" permission, all your custom theme colors, preferred tracks, and pacing settings would reset to default every time you close your browser tab.
B. Host Permission ("*://*.nitrotype.com/*")
• Why it is needed:
The core functionality of this extension is modifying and styling the Nitro Type race screen (injecting the live stats overlay, applying custom fonts and colors, highlighting the longest Nitro word, and enabling smooth auto-reload). This permission restricts extension code injection strictly and exclusively to Nitro Type pages.
• Is it strictly necessary?
Yes. Chrome extensions cannot alter or inject UI elements into a website without explicit host permission for that domain. Notice that we do NOT request access to any other websites on the internet — only Nitro Type.
4. THIRD-PARTY DATA SHARING
The Extension does not use third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel), advertising SDKs, or external error reporting tools. No data ever leaves your device.
5. SECURITY
Because all configuration data is stored locally in your browser's sandboxed storage and all scripts are bundled within the extension package itself, your data cannot be intercepted or modified by outside servers.
6. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
Should any updates be made to the extension that affect data handling or require new permissions, this Privacy Policy will be promptly updated and users will be notified through standard Chrome Web Store release notes.
7. CONTACT
If you have any questions, feedback, or inquiries regarding your privacy while using Nitro Type - Race Options, please reach out via the extension's official support channels on the Chrome Web Store.
