Hello! I'm Nithya, a Ph.D. candidate in Literature for Children and Young Adults at The Ohio State University with a Minor in English and a Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in South Asian Studies. I have an MA in Writing for Children from University of Central Lancashire, UK, and have worked as an Editor at Karadi Tales, a children’s publishing house in India. My research interests include multicultural and international children’s literature; war/genocide/migration-based conflict narratives for young children; narratology; theories of narrative empathy; ethics of reading and mediation, and culturally proactive pedagogy. I have taught both traditional and online courses on children's and young adult literature, multicultural literature, introduction to drama, and equity and diversity in education.
In addition to teaching, reading, and talking about children’s books, I love to spend time (virtually) with my family and friends who are spread across three different continents; play board games; cook and eat a variety of foods, and drink tea. You can get in touch with me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or on Twitter (@nithya_ss6).
