"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience", these words of Eleanor Roosevelt tells all about my past year experience. It was a wonderful year that created a new world for me. During the last year, I made new friends, learnt new things, made lots of fun with a bag full of memories.
The year began when I joined the Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering, Moodabidri for an undergraduate degree. I was eager to enter the engineering student life in this wonderful place. It was a pleasant and beautiful morning and a wonderful beginning to the year. I had made some resolutions to myself to achieve something at the end of the year as we make goals that we need to complete at the end of the day. As the days moved on, the pages of the calendar rolled up and the clock ran with the time. Everything was going at its pace like on any usual day. In the meantime, I had completed my first-semester end exams and I had reached midway in the year.
At this part, I had an encounter that changed my entire day, year, and life. It was the “KSHAMATA” camp at World Konkani Centre, Mangalore. KSHAMATA stands for Konkani Student’s Higher Achievement Motivation and Training Academy. This camp was based on our orientation and training related to the overall development of the student. Here I found an opportunity to explore myself. It taught me the purpose and reason to believe in oneself and make the world our stage to express ourselves. The objective of the camp was to Identify our Konkani identity, Connect to World through WKC, and Improve our talents/skills for involvement in social development. After the camp, I got new friends and a wonderful family who inspired me, helped me to be the person I am today.
When I began my second semester I was a different person. My perspective of seeking things and reacting to them had changed drastically. I could sense the changes in my mindset and behaviour that transformed my life. The days were running like anything and I couldn’t believe how fast the remaining days and months passed. The days went like hours and hours like minutes. Within the blink of an eye, we had come to the end of our second semester. It was like the sun on his way to reach the horizon.
After completing my first year with a bag of infinite memories, I had reached my second home (WKC) for the second time. This time it was more homely and more special than the previous one. This time I got some more friends and our family grew bigger. Now, I have completed my one year with a bang and I am eagerly looking forward to the next year. At the end of the day when I go to bed, I feel extremely happy that I have accomplished my goals and resolutions. Now when I close my eyes the entire year runs like a day in my life; With each second bringing a wonderful experience, a bunch of memories and a new lesson for life.
I would like to conclude by saying that today was my day. The year was mine and I have lived them to the fullest. God and I have this little arrangement. If he wakes me up to see another day, I promise to try and be better than I was yesterday.
Thank You,
