What is Not in Our Town?

Not in Our Town is a movement of participating communities working against hate, racism, and bullying and building safe, inclusive communities and schools for all. The NIOT belief is that change begins at the local level. We agree!

We subscribe to and wish to see exemplified in Downers Grove (as well as our neighboring communities) the following principles:

 Why “Not in Our Town” Downers Grove?

Given the antagonism, threats of violence, and attacks on members of and institutions in our community (LGBTQIA+, people of color, the unhoused, the Downers Grove Public Library and its director and staff), a group of residents of Downers Grove have decided to use the Not in Our Town resources and concept to raise awareness and to indicate support for those being attacked, harassed, and bullied in our community.

If you would like a yard sign, we ask that you donate $5 to help cover printing costs. Posters for businesses are free.
