NIOS is one of three National Boards and the only board looking after school education through open and distant education. It directly comes under the ministry of human resource development, government of India. NIOS is an autonomous institution which envisages an entire range of schooling from primary to senior secondary level through open education system. The foundation of the NIOS system is based on openness and flexibility. Learners have the freedom to choose their subjects. The courses of study offered by NIOS have the same standard and equivalence as the course study of other National/State level boards.

NIOS also provides a platform for students excelling in fields other than academics as it gives them the advantage of flexibility with respect to time, pace and place of learning.
DPS Bangalore North is an all India accredited centre for NIOS. We have been successfully conducting Classes for students enrolled in secondary, senior secondary and Open Basic Education (OBE) under the NIOS scheme once a week
Open basic education program comprises of neo-literates. It has three levels:
1) Preparatory 2) Primary 3) Elementary
Today, these students are a part of management, architecture, engineering and the athletics.
They continue to win laurels and be the best due to sheer determination and hard work.
DPS BANGAIORE NORTH has started a regular batch of NIOS at secondary and Sr. Secondary level from the academic year 2015.
Teacher Enrichment program
DPS North AI also takes up initiative in training teachers. Workshops are held every year, to better teaching skills. The teachers of DPS BN have attended these workshop and they have benefited a lot from the programs. Most of our teachers have taken part in the teleconferences held at NIOS regional centre and find them extremely useful in terms of efficient practical and theory classes. In addition to these teleconferences, our teacher have also attended seminars regarding the same.
