For chicken wings, the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer is my top pick because its dual-zone baskets let you cook wings and a side simultaneously with perfect crisp. If you prefer one-pot versatility over high-speed crisping, the Ninja PossibleCooker PLUS offers superior capacity for large batches of braised dishes.
• Ninja ® PossibleCooker™ PLUS — best for slow-cooked entrees and large gatherings; pick this if you need to replace a Dutch oven and want to finish meals with an oven-safe crispy top.
• Ninja Foodi Air Fryer — best for fast, crispy wings and whole meals cooked in parallel; pick this if your priority is speed and cooking two different items without them mixing flavors.
• Ninja ® Foodi® — best for indoor grilling with char marks; pick this if you crave that smoky, seared flavor without stepping outside or dealing with smoke in your kitchen.
• Ninja ® PossibleCooker™ PRO — best for heavy-duty meal prepping and batch cooking; pick this if you need the fastest possible cooking times for large cuts of meat like brisket or ribs.
The Ninja PossibleCooker PLUS stands out as a true centerpiece for anyone who loves the convenience of a slow cooker but craves the finishing power of an oven. It is designed to replace twelve separate tools on your counter, from a traditional Dutch oven to a bread maker. This unit brings a unique "cooker-to-oven-to-table" philosophy that solves the classic problem of transferring food between a stovetop and an oven just to get a nice crust. The 8.5-quart pot is deep enough to hold a massive batch of chili for a crowd or enough pulled pork for thirty sliders, making it ideal for family dinners and holiday prep.
What makes this appliance particularly compelling for daily use is its Triple Fusion Heat Technology. By combining bottom, side, and steam heat, it cooks up to 30% faster than a conventional oven. This isn't just about speed; it's about how the heat penetrates the food. You can sear proteins right in the nonstick pot to lock in juices before adding liquids for a braise or slow cook. The ability to go straight into a standard home oven at temperatures up to 500°F means you can achieve a golden-brown finish on casseroles or baked pasta without dirtying another pan.
I recommend this model specifically for those who entertain often or cook in large volumes. The included utensil is a thoughtful touch, functioning as both a ladle and a pasta fork while resting securely in the lid handle. However, there is a trade-off to consider. Because this unit focuses on moist-heat methods like braising and sous vide, it does not have the rapid air circulation needed for the ultra-crispy texture that air fryers provide. If your primary goal is strictly dry, crunchy wings, this might feel too heavy-handed compared to a dedicated air fryer.
When the goal is achieving maximum crunch on chicken wings without waiting hours for a roast, the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer is the clear winner. Its DualZone Technology is a game-changer for busy households. Instead of cooking one item at a time or shaking a single basket repeatedly, you get two independent XL baskets. You can place wings in one zone and a side dish like broccoli or potatoes in the other, setting different times and temperatures for each. The Smart Finish feature then automatically adjusts the timing so both baskets finish cooking at the exact same moment, serving hot food ready to eat.

This machine shines when you need to feed a family quickly or host a casual gathering where everyone wants different foods. The 10-quart capacity is substantial, capable of handling eight pounds of chicken wings in a single go. The integration of the Smart Cook System with a built-in thermometer removes the guesswork entirely. You can set it to rare, medium-rare, or well-done, and the probe monitors the internal temperature, ensuring your protein is never overcooked. The wide temperature range allows you to dehydrate snacks or bake desserts, making it a versatile hub for the entire kitchen.
In my opinion, this is the most practical choice for weeknight dinners where time is tight. The non-stick surfaces are PFAS-free, and the crisper plates are dishwasher safe, which simplifies cleanup significantly. The main limitation here is the physical footprint; the dual-basket design requires more counter space than a single-pot cooker. Additionally, while it excels at frying and roasting, it lacks the liquid-heavy capabilities of a slow cooker. You cannot make a stew or braise in this unit, so it serves as a specialized tool rather than a complete replacement for your stove.
The Ninja Foodi Smart XL Indoor Grill bridges the gap between the backyard barbecue and the modern kitchen countertop. It uses Cyclonic Grilling Technology to blast food with 500°F of hot air while simultaneously pressing it against a heated grill grate. The result is the distinct char marks and savory flavor associated with outdoor grilling, achieved entirely indoors. For someone who misses the taste of summer grills during winter months, this appliance delivers that experience without the hassle of managing charcoal or propane.
Its capacity is designed for serious feeders, fitting up to six steaks or twenty-four hot dogs at once. The Smoke Control System is a critical feature for apartment dwellers or kitchens with poor ventilation. By utilizing a temperature-controlled grate, a splatter shield, and a cool-air zone, it effectively minimizes smoke and keeps the kitchen environment comfortable. The Smart Thermometer again plays a starring role here, allowing you to pull steaks at the precise level of doneness you desire, from rare to well-done, with zero anxiety about burning the outside while the inside stays raw.
I find this unit perfect for those who prioritize the aesthetic and flavor of grilled food but lack the space or weather conditions for an outdoor grill. The ability to transform frozen foods into perfectly char-grilled meals in under 25 minutes is a massive time-saver. It also generates significant heat on the exterior during operation, requiring careful placement away from cabinets. Furthermore, while it has an air fry function, it is not as specialized for that specific task as the dual-zone air fryer, trading some air-frying efficiency for superior grilling performance.
The Ninja PossibleCooker PRO takes the concept of the all-in-one cooker to the next level by replacing fourteen appliances. It shares the massive 8.5-quart rectangular pot with the PLUS model but adds baking and steaming functions to its eight cooking modes. This extra functionality makes it the ultimate tool for meal preppers who need to batch-cook multiple types of dishes throughout the week. The rectangular shape is specifically engineered to fit full racks of ribs or nine-pound briskets, which would be impossible to fit comfortably in round pots.
Like its sibling, the PRO utilizes Triple Fusion Heat Technology to cook up to 30% faster than a conventional oven. This speed is crucial when you are trying to prepare large quantities of food for the freezer or a big Sunday dinner. The nonstick pot is oven-safe up to 500°F, allowing you to transition seamlessly from a low-and-slow braise to a high-heat oven finish for a crispy topping. The inclusion of an integrated spoon-ladle and a chef-curated recipe guide shows a focus on ease of use and reducing the clutter of loose utensils.
I believe this is the best choice for the serious home cook who views their kitchen as a production center. The ability to sear, sauté, steam, roast, and proof in a single vessel means fewer dishes and less active monitoring. The trade-off, however, is complexity. With eight functions and advanced heating elements, the learning curve is slightly higher than a simple toaster oven or air fryer. It is a powerful machine that demands respect and proper usage to unlock its full potential. While it is lighter than the grill model, it is still a substantial piece of equipment that requires dedicated storage space.
We compared published specs and features across these four models to determine which design best serves specific cooking needs. No brand paid for placement, and we did not rely on external ratings or sales figures to form our opinions.
Yes, the Smart Finish and rapid air circulation allow you to cook frozen wings directly without thawing, delivering crispy results in roughly 30 minutes.
Both the PLUS and PRO models feature removable nonstick pots that are oven-safe up to 500°F, allowing you to finish dishes with a crispy top.
It includes a Smoke Control System with a splatter shield and cool-air zone to minimize smoke, keeping the kitchen cleaner than traditional grilling.
The Ninja PossibleCooker series (PLUS and PRO) is ideal for this due to their 8.5-quart capacities and dedicated slow cook and braise functions.
