The Ninja Foodi SP101/FT102CO wins my list of ninja air fryers because its flip-away design saves massive counter space without sacrificing cooking power. If you need to cook two different meals at once, the Ninja DZ201 is the smarter runner-up choice for its dual-basket flexibility.

This appliance is not just an air fryer; it is a countertop convection oven that replaces several single-use devices. It combines air frying, air roasting, air broiling, baking, bagel toasting, dehydrating, and warming into a single 1800-watt machine. The standout feature here is the flip-away storage design. Unlike most bulky ovens that stay stuck on the counter, this unit flips up and away, taking up half the space when not in use. This makes it an ideal solution for kitchens where every inch of counter real estate counts.
The cooking capacity is genuinely impressive for such a compact footprint. You can fit a 13-inch pizza, nine slices of toast, or six chicken breasts inside the XL pan. The digital crisp control technology manages temperature, heat source, and airflow with precision, ensuring even baking results that are reportedly more consistent than older models. Preheating takes only about a minute, and full meals can be ready in as little as twenty minutes, which is significantly faster than a traditional wall oven.
I recommend this model for anyone who wants the versatility of a full kitchen oven but lives in a smaller apartment or has limited counter space. The ability to flip it up against the backsplash is a game-changer for daily usability. However, there is a trade-off: while it fits a lot of food, it is still a single-zone oven. You cannot cook a main dish and a side dish at different temperatures simultaneously, which limits its utility compared to dual-basket models for complex meal planning.
This specific model refers to the larger 10-quart version of the DualZone line, designed specifically for volume cooking. It features two independent 5-quart baskets, allowing you to prepare two distinct foods at different temperatures and times, then have them finish together using the Smart Finish feature. Alternatively, the Match Cook button lets you copy settings across both zones to effectively create a single 10-quart cooking area. This flexibility means you can roast a whole turkey alongside vegetables or make two different types of wings for a party without any back-and-forth.
The construction emphasizes durability and safety. The non-stick cooking surfaces are 100% PFAS-free, addressing modern concerns about chemical coatings, and the crisper plates are dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. It cooks up to 30% faster than a traditional oven, handling two 6-pound chickens efficiently. The wide temperature range from 105°F to 450°F covers everything from gentle dehydration to high-heat crisping.
I see this unit as the ultimate choice for large families or hosts who entertain frequently. The sheer volume allows for complete meal assembly in one cycle, saving time on dirty dishes. The main compromise is size; this is a substantial appliance that requires a dedicated spot on the counter due to its width and depth. It is not easily tucked away, so it is best suited for kitchens with ample space where the goal is speed and capacity over storage convenience.
This model brings the innovative DualZone technology to a slightly more streamlined package. It offers two independent baskets that let you cook two foods, two ways, at the same time, avoiding the common issue of having to cook items sequentially in a single-basket fryer. While it is marketed as a "4-in-1," it delivers the core functionality of Air Fry, Roast, Reheat, and Dehydrate. The key selling point here is the value proposition of getting the dual-zone capability without the higher price tag of the 6-in-1 variants.

The 8-quart total capacity provides enough room for mains and sides, fitting up to four pounds of fries or wings. The baskets are designed for easy cleaning, with nonstick surfaces that wipe down or go straight into the dishwasher. The cyclonic fans and rapid heaters in each zone ensure that both sides cook evenly and quickly. This is a robust machine that handles the heavy lifting of family dinners with ease.
My opinion is that this is the sweet spot for many households. It offers the most requested feature—cooking two things at once—at a lower cost. The trade-off is the reduced number of preset programs compared to the 6-in-1 versions. If you rely heavily on specific presets like Air Broil or Bake, you might find the menu slightly limiting, though manual adjustments usually cover these gaps. It is a practical, no-frills workhorse for everyday cooking.
The Ninja DZ201 is a flagship model that defines the DualZone category. It boasts six customizable programs including Air Fry, Air Broil, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. Its primary strength lies in the Smart Finish feature, which intelligently adjusts the cooking time of the second basket so that both foods are ready at the exact same moment. There is also a Match Cook function to combine the capacity of both baskets for massive batches. The 8-quart capacity is split into two 4-quart zones, each with its own fan and heater.
The temperature range spans from a low 105°F for dehydrating to a high 450°F for rapid crisping. This wide range gives you significant control over texture and moisture retention. The baskets and crisper plates are dishwasher safe, and the overall design focuses on simplifying the process of making complex meals. The dark grey stainless finish adds a sleek look to the kitchen environment.
I consider this the gold standard for busy parents who need to feed everyone at the dinner table simultaneously. The ability to cook a protein and a vegetable with different requirements in one go is invaluable. The downside is the physical footprint; it is a wide unit that needs space to open fully. Additionally, while powerful, it is heavier and bulkier than single-basket models, meaning it stays on the counter year-round rather than being stored away.
This model stands out primarily because of its unique viewing window. The EZView window allows you to check on your food during the cooking process without opening the lid and letting out the superheated air. This feature solves a common frustration with air fryers where opening the basket causes a drop in temperature and uneven cooking results. The 5.5-quart capacity is perfect for smaller families or individuals, fitting up to three pounds of fries or wings comfortably.
It utilizes Max Crisp Technology, delivering 450°F of superheated air to cook food up to 30% faster than previous generations. The seven functions include Max Crisp, Air Fry, Air Roast, Air Broil, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate. The temperature range is versatile, supporting everything from slow dehydration to high-speed crisping. Cleaning is straightforward, with a nonstick basket and crisper plate that are dishwasher safe.
I recommend this for cooks who get anxious about undercooked food or those who like to experiment with timing. The window provides peace of mind and helps achieve consistent results by eliminating guesswork. The trade-off is the smaller capacity compared to the DualZone models; it is not suitable for large family meals where you need to cook two separate items at once. It is a specialized tool for efficiency and monitoring rather than volume.
This entry represents the 10-quart DualZone XL model focused on material safety and health-conscious cooking. Like its siblings in the DualZone line, it features two independent 5-quart baskets that allow for simultaneous cooking with Smart Finish or Match Cook capabilities. The defining characteristic here is the commitment to a non-toxic cooking environment. The non-stick surface is explicitly made 100% PFAS-free, which appeals to buyers looking to avoid certain chemicals often found in traditional non-stick coatings.
It retains the speed of the brand, cooking two 6-pound chickens up to 30% faster than a traditional oven. The six versatile programs cover all the bases from air frying to dehydrating. The crisper plates are dishwasher safe, ensuring that the lack of toxic chemicals does not come at the cost of difficult cleanup. The design supports a wide temperature range, giving users full control over their culinary output.
In my view, this is the top choice for families who prioritize long-term health and safety in their kitchen appliances. The PFAS-free coating is a significant differentiator in a market where many competitors still use older technologies. The only potential drawback is that the advanced material safety features do not necessarily add extra cooking functions; it is essentially a high-end version of the standard 10-quart model with a focus on material composition rather than added smart features.
The Ninja DZ100 is the classic entry into the DualZone lineup, offering eight quarts of total cooking space divided into two 4-quart baskets. It was one of the first models to popularize the concept of cooking two foods at different temperatures and times. The DualZone Technology includes the Smart Finish feature to synchronize completion times and the Match Cook button to double the capacity for large batches. It comes with six customizable programs: Air Fry, Air Broil, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate.
The unit is built for versatility, with a temperature range from 105°F to 450°F. It handles up to four pounds of French fries or chicken wings, making it suitable for quick family dinners. The baskets and crisper plates are designed for easy cleaning, with dishwasher-safe components. The black finish provides a neutral aesthetic that fits into most kitchen decors.
I see this as the most accessible way to enter the world of dual-basket cooking. It offers the core benefits of the brand without the premium finishes of other models. The trade-off is that it lacks some of the newer refinements found in the latest releases, such as the smart thermometer or the specific PFAS-free claims of newer lines. However, for the average user, it delivers the essential performance needed for fast, healthy meals without unnecessary complexity.
This final model is the most technologically advanced option available, featuring the Smart Cook System with an integrated food thermometer. The 10-quart capacity is split between two independent XL baskets, maintaining the dual-zone flexibility of Smart Finish and Match Cook. The inclusion of the probe thermometer removes the guesswork from cooking meats, allowing you to set a target internal temperature and let the machine handle the rest, ensuring perfect doneness from rare to well-done.
Like other high-end models, it is 100% PFAS-free and includes six versatile cooking programs. It cooks two 6-pound chickens 30% faster than a traditional oven. The wide temperature range and XL capacity make it excellent for entertaining guests or preparing large family-sized meals. The non-stick surface and dishwasher-safe crisper plates ensure that the advanced features do not complicate the cleanup process.
My recommendation for this unit is clear: it is for the serious home cook who treats meat preparation with scientific precision. The integrated thermometer is a game-changer for roasts and poultry, ensuring you never overcook a prime cut again. The main consideration is the price and complexity; if you rarely cook whole chickens or steaks, you might not utilize the thermometer feature enough to justify the upgrade over the standard 10-quart model. It is the pinnacle of convenience and control.
We compared published specs and features across the entire Ninja lineup to identify which models offer the best balance of capacity, functionality, and design. The ranking reflects our independent editorial opinion based on how well each product meets the diverse needs of modern kitchens. No brand paid for placement, and we did not rely on sales data or external ratings to determine the order.
Yes, most Ninja models feature dishwasher-safe baskets and crisper plates with nonstick coatings that resist food buildup, making cleanup simple.
Absolutely. Models with DualZone Technology allow you to cook two foods at different temperatures and times, finishing them simultaneously with the Smart Finish feature.
While the dual-basket models are wide, the SP101/FT102CO model flips up to save space, and the EzView is more compact for smaller kitchens.
Newer models, particularly the 10-quart DualZone versions, feature 100% PFAS-free non-stick surfaces to ensure a safer cooking environment.
