This Privacy Policy describes how your information may be collected, used, stored, and shared when you use the Nigerian Constitution & Laws mobile application (the "App").
Important: This App is a private initiative and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of the Federal Government of Nigeria or any other government agency.
The legal texts provided in this App, including but not limited to the Constitution, Criminal Code, Penal Code, Police Act, ACJA, Labour Act, and other laws, are for informational and educational purposes only. While we strive for accuracy, these materials are sourced from publicly available records and should not be treated as official legal authority without cross-checking official government publications or gazettes.
For a better experience, while using the App, certain information may be processed to provide features such as AI explanations, audio playback, bookmarks, notes, ads, and push notifications.
Some information is stored locally on your device and is not sent to our servers by default. This may include:
bookmarks
personal notes
audio playback settings and reading position
selected AI provider
daily usage counters
saved app preferences
user-provided AI API keys saved in the App
However, the App also uses third-party services and infrastructure that may process certain information when specific features are used.
The App includes an AI Explainer feature that allows you to submit prompts, questions, and follow-up questions about legal text.
When you use the AI Explainer, the App may process and transmit:
your prompt or legal question
your follow-up messages
the law text or section text relevant to your request
the law title, law ID, or section ID
limited technical metadata needed to complete or troubleshoot the request
If you do not add your own API key, the App may send your request through our secure AI Gateway infrastructure, which routes requests to one or more third-party AI providers.
If you do add your own API key, the App may send your request directly to the provider you selected.
Some third-party AI providers may store, log, review, use, or reuse prompts, requests, law text, and generated outputs to operate, improve, fine-tune, evaluate, or train their models and services, subject to their own privacy policies and terms.
This means that content you submit to the AI Explainer may be processed by those third-party services and may not remain exclusively local to your device.
If you do not want your prompts or legal questions to be processed by third-party AI systems, please do not use the AI Explainer feature.
If you allow notifications, the App may use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and our notification infrastructure to send updates and alerts.
To support notifications, the App may process:
a push notification token
a generated device identifier
device platform and app version
This information is used only to register your device for notifications and deliver messages, including notifications that may open a specific law or section inside the App.
You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
The App uses third-party services that may collect or process information used to identify or interact with your device.
These services may include:
Google Play Services
Google AdMob
Firebase Cloud Messaging
Cloudflare for secure API gateway and infrastructure services
third-party AI providers used by the AI Explainer, including providers such as OpenRouter, Mistral, Cerebras, Pollinations, 1min.ai, Cloudflare Workers AI, and others configured by us or selected by you
Please review the privacy policies of these third-party services for more information about how they handle data.

This information may be used to deliver and measure ads and to improve ad performance.

Whenever you use the App, especially in the event of an error, we or third-party services may collect data and information on your device commonly known as Log Data.
This Log Data may include:
your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address
device name
operating system version
app version
configuration of the App when using the service
the time and date of your use
diagnostic details
provider failure information for AI routing and reliability monitoring
This data helps us monitor uptime, troubleshoot service failures, and improve the reliability of the App.
The App allows you to create personal notes and save bookmarks for legal sections.
This data is generally stored locally on your device. We do not intend to sync or back up your notes and bookmarks to our own external server as part of the normal App experience.
If you uninstall the App or clear App data, these notes and bookmarks may be deleted from your device.
The App allows users to enter their own API keys for supported AI providers.
If you choose to do this:
your key is stored locally on your device for convenience
the key is used to send requests to the provider you selected
the provider you selected may process your prompts and responses under its own privacy policy
We do not intend to collect your personal AI API keys on our own server simply because you saved them inside the App settings.
We value your trust in using the App and strive to use commercially reasonable means of protecting information processed through it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete that information where reasonably possible. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us.
Some third-party services used by the App may process data on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in other jurisdictions where privacy laws may differ.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify users of changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy here and changing the "Last updated" date above.
