I am an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood and Prevention Science at Washington State University. I was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Irvine working with Dr. Barbara Sarnecka. I completed my Ph.D. in Human Development at the University of Maryland with Dr. Geetha Ramani.
My research investigates the variability in children’s early mathematical learning. Three lines of research address this overarching goal. First, I design and implement playful interventions to improve the mathematical interest and skills of children from low-income households. Second, I examine young children’s mathematical skill development and the relations between domain-specific numerical skills and domain-general executive functioning skills. Third, I investigate social influences on children’s academic achievement, including their interactions with parents, teachers, and peers.
